As i posted before I was approved at my aos interview but the immigration officer told me she couldnt stamp my passport and that i would get my approval letter in a week. She even gave me some paper saying "You will get an approval letter in the mail". I didnt get the approval letter so I called the USCIS and they told me my case is still PENDING! They said probably they will make a decision before JUNE  I told her i was approved at the interview cause it seemed like she didnt even know about it,but it didnt help :( Do they comunicate between offices? I dont know what to think! Am I approved or not???? And of course my online status is not updated

PaolaLew,

It sounds as though you and the interviewer may have had a bit of mis-communication. Or perhaps she had a bit of paperwork to finish that she hasn't completed yet.

Does the paper she gave you say anything more than the 1 sentence that you've quoted?

The only way to get an answer may be to make an InfoPass appointment with the office to ask for clarification. Or wait longer to see if anything happens.

Maybe they're still doing some background checks. Sometimes this can delay the approval but if the officer/interviewer said you're approved then you are. It just takes them a long time to verify status etc. etc. Goodluck and hope you hear from them soon. God Bless! :)

The paperwork she gave me says " Adjustment interview results- Congratulations!Your application is approved. You will receive an approval letter. Upon receipt of your approval letter ,you may bring your passport into this office for issuance of a temporary stamp as evidence of your approved permanent residence status. "

We asked at the time of the interview if my fingerprints ect came back yet and she said yeah, every thing looks fine and that she had all the paperwork she needed to approve the case. Maybe she is just being LAZY??:blink:

You could try an InfoPass appointment to ask about it. The local office will know more about the case than the 800 number will. Even then, what they can say is sometimes limited. I went in for an InfoPass and was told our case was still pending. Once we got the green card we found out the case had been approved a week before that InfoPass appointment.

I can imagine how very confused you must be. My husband and I had our AOS interview on 1/26 and were not given any letter but were told he was approved and he would be received his green card in a 2 or 3 weeks. On 2/13/06 he received his welcome to America letter and his green card. I hope you hear something very soon.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is possible that the system the 800 number people have access to is not updated. If nothing happens in another couple weeks, I would make an Infopass and bring in the paper you were given. Good luck!

I wouldnt worry to much as we also were told the same thing this past Monday in Phoenix. The lady said she dont stamp the passport but we are approved and should receive an approval notice within 7-10 days. What I have noticed is now when I try and check the status online it tells us :

Case Status

The status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

So hopefully we get the notice real quick and I am sure yours will come soon also. Take the advice already given and make an Infopass appt if your antsy as I wouldn't believe a thing you hear on the mis-information line. What does it say when you check the case status online ??

Good luck!!

I just had my interview Feb 23rd the girl that interviewed me after all the "stuff" that had to be done was done. She said welcome "offically" to the USA she then stamped my passport and told me I would get my card in aprox, 3wks. Today mar 3rd I got my welcome to the USA letter in the mail and that stated that I should have my card within 3 wks max. but when she stamped my PP she told me that stamp would be my 'temp" approval indicator until I get my card.

May God's Grace be all you will ever need ticker.png

Mine is still

Current Status:

Your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received on September 13, 2005. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 120 and 180 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

And the last update is 11/03/2005  I guess we'll have to wait and see! mis-information line is so funny :D
