OMG, this is doing our heads in. Appologies in advance for the rant.

Our packet 3 and checklist were signed for at the embassy on 23rd October and we STILL haven't had our packet 4. Worse, when we called the Visa (No)Helpline, they said their system wasn't showing receipt of the checklist. It's been nearly 6 weeks. When we call the (No)Helpline, they keep repeating that this process takes up to a month, despite me telling them it's already been 5/6 weeks. Are they really stupid or something??!!

During my last call, the representative helpfully told me that if I didn't have a special reference number, the embassy will not respond to my emails. Why the hell didn't someone tell me this 2 weeks ago when I called and asked the same question?

I sent an email on Monday 27th November with this reference number and our case number in the subject line, as instructed, and 4 days later we're still waiting for a response. Is that normal?

Can anyone tell us the best way to find out what on earth is going on? This situation wouldn't be half as bad if we could just get a status update and not complete stonewaling from the embassy.

Any help appreciated.

Sorry again for the rant!!

Jen and Jerry

PS - We sent in another copy of our checklist with a cover letter just in case the original got lost between the embassy post room and the appropriate desk.

Sorry you are going through the delay, seems to be the norm lately with London. There is another post in CR-1 on someone else waiting for packet 4 now going on about 8 weeks. Call DOS, as well sometimes you can get an update sooner from them and the call is free from the states if you dial from skype.

Thanks for the advice. One question though. We've called the DOS and they tell us that the case is no longer with them and therefore we must call the embassy for an update. Are we doing something wrong? Is there some magic password we are unaware of?!! :D

I can't even recall the number and what you push to get through directly, maybe someone else can post it so you can double check that you are calling the right place. DOS can check the status of your case at any given time, so not sure why they are telling you they can't. We found out our interview date from them 4 days before we heard anything from London. I called them every other day for an update and they were always helpful.

You might search through the UK regional thread for the number, sorry that I don't have it anymore. It has been posted time and time again, just not sure where to locate it. Will look when I get to the office later today.

hmm, sorry about the trouble you are having...

the embassy took a week to reply to an email I sent.

I called them once to ask whether my partner's Trancripts needed to be notarised.

I was told that for a K1 /K2, the I-134 is not needed, so therefore transcripts are not needed either?????

I called once to ask whether the DS230 could be filed out by hand.

A very short tempered lady told me that I had received the forms in my packet 3.

I had not.

I had the instructions to complete the forms online.

She wouldnt have it, for about 5 minutes, until she disappeared and said 'yes, by hand is fine'

'thankyou, bye'

the reference code shows which week, you called, with the original enquiry.

I guess thats how they prioritise the calls.

Good luck anyhows, all the best

They are very helpful.

It took around 5-6 weeks for my pack 4 to be sent out to me after sending the checklist. I seem to recall things tend to slow down a little around xmas too.

Good Luck with DOS
