Hi everyone,

My name is Maria, I had an interview on June 25, 2013 at Jakarta, Indonesian Embassy. A man that interviewed me was asking questions like :

When you guys first met?

How u know ur husband?

When did u get married?

What is ur husband do for a living?

When the last time ur husband came to see u after you'r married?

What will u do in State?

Are you going to study or work?

etc...

After this man interviewed me, he said everything is OK have a good trip and hope you enjoy live in United State. Then he gave me a "white slip paper" with a hand writing noted "Process".

3 days after the interviewed I came back to the Embassy to pick up my passport, because i thought the procedures will be the same like my mother in law immigrant visa for parents citizent case, she took the passport 3days after the interview with the visa stamp on it.

I gave the white slip paper to the Lady at the lV locket and she told me to sit and wait, then she call me again and gave back my passport.

When I checked there is no Visa on it, then I asked is there any problem? why there's no visa on it. She told me there's no problem. And I asked again if there's any document you need more? she said no. You can take your passport and we will contact you again, can u give me your contact number and ur email address? I gaive her what she need and I came back home with a huge disappointment.

I write them an email to asked the reasons? they answered that my case is under "Administrative Processing".

I asked for how long it will take for AP? they answered that they can not make sure for how long it will takes, but we will contact u as soon as the AP is done.

I asked do I need to send back my passport to the Embassy? They answered that I could keep my passport and as soon as the AP is done, they will contact me to bring back my passport to the Embassy.

Is there anyone out there have same case like mine was under administrative processing and given a white slip paper?

For how long does AP time needed?

It's been a month now since the interview.

Thanks for your time guys...

My wife also had her interview at islamabad embassy on july 12th and they kept her passport and also gave her a light green 221g sheet.

they said they need more verification and put it in AP. They said it can be weeks or months.

You can call 202-663-1225 dos for your case status and also check online at ceac state gove website with your case number.

I think you should have just left your passport there it might of made things a lil bit faster.

Hi Maria&Marveen

Sorry for the AP, I was put under AP for two weeks (see my timeline) and at that time no additional documents were needed, gave me a yellow slip which says administrative processing.

However, they took my passport and after two weeks waiting, they called and told me to pick up the passport with visa in it.

Question is, did they call you or try to contact you in any way to pick your passport at the Embassy? Or you just went there after three days without prior notification from them?

AP sucks and there is no way we can find out how long it will take. In my case, my Singapore police clearance arrived at the Embassy last minute, I guess that's what caused the delay. Do you have the same situation as mine?

I hope your AP won't be long, I completely understand how you feel not knowing when and nothing to do to speed up the process.

I've just check on ceac.state.gov they said "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing" and the status update date is on "23 July 2013". I just don't get it why my update status date is on July23th while my interview was on June25th.

And I just can not left my passport to the Embassy if they haven't contact me yet.

I hope your situation is better than mine and ur wife will recieve her passport with visa in it soon. Pls keep update ur case.

Thanks

Well, I just went there after 3days without they told me too. B'coz I thought my case will be the same as my mother in law 3days after her interviewed on May 2013 she came and they gave her the passport with visa in it. My husband is an Indonesian and he's a US citizen since 2005.

I never heard before about the administrative processing after the interview. And some of my friends also got their passport 3-4days after interviewed. So I just came there and asking for my passport. I don't know why I can be so stupid for not asking when can I pick up my passport to that man after he interviewed me. Since he told me that everything is OK, have a good trip and hope you enjoy live in United State. I thought I can just come after 3days to pick up my passport.

We don't need Indonesian police clearance here since the Embassy didn't ask for it.

Thanks for ur concern Blooms.

Dear Maria&Marveen,

Of course you don't need the Indonesian police clearance.

But if you have lived in other countries for more than 6 months, you have to get the police clearance from the respective country/countries.

In my case, I lived in Singapore for more than 6 months, that's why I had to apply for the clearance and the arrival of the doc was very tight with my interview, hence the possibility why I got under AP.

The question was whether you have a pending document from other institution like I did.

If not, have you tried emailing the consulate once a week to check your status?

You can check the status at ceac.state.gov too.

Hope this helps and good luck.
