I was very impressed by her choice of weaponry.

I suggest all black women in Houston in the 20 to 30 age bracket carry such a piece of ordnance in the trunk.

Thats correct but try to understand the SYG does not come into picture as soon as GZ got out of the car...SYG came into picture when the fight began.

If it could had been proven that GZ punched TM it might had been difficult to prove self defense but TM did not have any wounds.

All that proved was he couldn't fight. It's funny that all that GZ did wouldn't raise anyone's suspicion. Even when he was reaching for his phone, TM didn't know what was going down because GZ never bothered to tell him. Some stranger has spent the last couple of minutes chasing you, you two finally meet and he is reaching for something, if he was black and cops were involved, he would have been shot 50 times.

Houston woman shoots man, Louis Daniel, at gas station after sexual advances, takes cell phone photo calling it self defense

A woman is being held by the Houston Police Department, because she’s accused of shooting a man, which was all caught by the service station’s surveillance camera.

According to Houston police, the man, identified by family as Louis Daniels, 58, approached the woman at around 7 p.m. at a Gulf Station to make sexual advances toward her, but she told him repeatedly to go away.

Houston police say the man then produced a knife, advanced toward her so she shot him with her .22 caliber gun, firing multiple shots at the man, killing him in the parking lot.

“She seen him with a knife and took out her gun and pointed it toward the ground, like a warning,” a witness said. “Like ‘get off me.’ He kept walking toward her like he was fixing to do something, and that’s when she shot off,” he said.

“I’m very hurt and I never meant for anything like this to go on,” said Shanequia McDonald (who has now been identified as the shooter). “I just went to the gas station to get gas. I didn’t go to hurt or harm anyone and I was just protecting myself.”

McDonald said Daniel was making sexual advances toward her and cursing her out.

“I don’t see this as self-defense, I see a cold blooded murder,” Darryl Daniels, the shooting victim’s brother, said.

The video shows McDonald can be seen grabbing her cell phone and taking a picture of Daniel.

“She took out her phone to take a picture of the knife he had in his hand so no one would say he didn’t attempt to harm her, stab her, cut her and that she did not do this in self defense,” said Quanell X on McDonald’s intentions.

He also claimed the reason she left the station before police could arrive was because she felt threatened by the other men who had been sitting with Daniel when the confrontation began.

The woman left the scene before cops arrived, but she was later caught. Officials say a knife was found on the man. A Harris County grand jury is expected to determine what, if any, charges may be filed against the woman.

A later comment (another article) by the brother of the man killed:

“Well, my brother is harmless," said Darryl Daniels, the victim's brother. "He’s harmless and he wouldn’t have hurt her. He wouldn’t have hurt nobody. She just didn’t know him. Because if she’d have known my brother, she’d have known that 'Poochie' wouldn’t have hurt nobody.”

So, what both are you are saying is that because it's not legal then TM had nothing to worry about? If he was supposed to run home, what about his right to SYG? GZ never identified himself, he never let his intentions be known, he spent the better half of the encounter following TM and then got out of his car to keep going after him. In the previous post, even when confronted by TM, he still didn't identify himself.

If he was supposed to run home because he was in danger, doesn't SYG give you the right not to?

I think this is where folks continue to misinterpret the entire ordeal. SYG isn't a seven minute or four minute or even one minute ordeal. SYG is an immediate threat to life and once someone crosses that threshold, the person they endanger has the right to defend themselves. In the TM/GZ encounter, SYG didn't start until TM was on top of GZ slamming his head into the ground. If TM felt GZ was about to take his life, why on earth would he jump on top of him?

Your scenario of TM being so scared of GZ reaching for something that he immediately punched him, jumped on top of him and started slamming his head into the ground "for his own safety" just isn't rational.

So GZ's actions of following someone at night without identification, nor intentions, getting out of your car and following on foot are completely logical and rational, yet TM's action of attacking GZ isn't?

Absolutely. The most effective manner of cutting down on property crime is personal interaction. When folks are out and about and criminals know "someone is watching" they tend to find somewhere else to do their crimes.

There'd been several property crimes in the area and that's why GZ was out in the first place. Obviously the police were ineffective and that's why he "took matters into his own hands."

All you folks who are saying he should've just stayed in his vehicle and let the police handle it are basically saying it's OK to let your own neighborhood go down the crapper. That you shouldn't get involved. What's really funny is now you're taking it a step further and saying when your life is threatened you should call those same police instead of having the right to defend yourself. Makes no sense to me. Why on earth would you call people who can't stop property crime to defend you when your life is threatened?

Yes, but why didn't he identify himself in the onset? TM wasn't committing a crime at the time. And his life only became "in danger" once he confronted him without telling him who he was and what he wanted.

Perhaps he would've if he hadn't been punched in the face.

Many of you are implying GZ should've strolled up all friendly like and said, "Hi. My name is George and I'm the neighborhood watch volunteer. Are you in need of assistance tonight, good sir?" Being polite and friendly is never a bad thing but it's not like asking someone a question - any question - is grounds for an @$$ whoopin.

"Confrontational and accusatory" with his, "What are you doing here?"

Have you ever punched someone when they asked you a question?

Oh please. He had plenty of time to introduce himself before then. He chose not to.
