If I follow someone that I feel is suspicious enough to call the cops on, and when I catch up to them, demand to know what they're doing, etc ... how ISN'T that looking for a confrontation?!

I always thought that, stand your ground, was only intended for people at their home... of course if you are in the street you can run.. but if someone is on top of you pounding your head into the ground and you shoot them, that would seem to be self defense.... and that is what Zimmerman's lawyers argued.......and won....

Wait, didn't GZ tell 911 that TM was running/walking away? That's why he was irritated that "they always get away"...

GZ lost him but that does not mean TM was running toward home, he continued to hang around that corner... any person if scared would go towards home when they are in vicinity of their home.

Some of you have spent the last two weeks saying a man on the ground - with someone on top of him slamming his head down - shouldve walked away.

No. No one said that. The two rational things that should have happened in THAT case is that GZ should have never got out to follow and then TM should never have turned to confront. Those are the two fails.

Stand your ground varies in different jurisdictions from what I have seen. The rest is correct.

No...I have done it many times. Often it is not a demand about what you are doing but perhaps you need some help.

He was much bigger than her and had weapons. It wasnt just a swing.

Nor did Zimmerman.

What rights should people have to defend themselves?

According to syg it's lethal rights.

In most altercation both people can claim fearing for their lives, thus kill each other.

Lets just go back to the law of the jungle.

Yep.

Anyone who believes GZ got out of his car to follow TM .. yet somehow wasn't "looking" for some kind of confrontation is crazy. Perhaps he didn't intend it to become physical, and that's error on TM's part if he's the one who started it.

But let's stop acting like TM jumped GZ the second he saw him. It didn't happen that way, not according to witness statement and not according to GZ.

so you're not talking about following someone you feel is suspicious, but instead someone you feel needs your help. right.

That wasn't the case here, was it? GZ didn't think TM needed help. He followed someone he thought was suspicious and confronted him. That's what he was looking for and he got it.

Okay, NOW I am officially never talking about them again.

Is that the legal definition, or your assessment of common sense?

Because he didn't legally have to go home and dumb@ss didn't have to stay in his car and could legally follow.

Again, teen must do everything right, even if it's not required by law and adult can be a total moron.

That's about sums it up right?
