I'm not sure his paranoia would make me feel safer in MY community, but to each their own.

Kinda hard to call it paranoia when you look at all the unsolved crime that was taking place in that neighborhood.

If it's the truth, there's nothing wrong with warning the neighbors and giving them the description of the lurkers, that's typical protocol. If he was making it up, that would be a whole different story.

warning neighbors of lurkers, specifically outsider black lurkers? that's okay? from a mall cop? i'm sorry i would have told gz to fo and gtfo. warn me when there is a legitimate problem, with more specific leads.

I was more referring to the really ridiculous 911 calls. Dude acted like everything out of the ordinary was an emergency.

We have to occasionally test 911 calls here where I work to make sure they go to the right emergency services. Some of the agencies are really weird about it. I think NYC will only let you test between 4 and 5 in the morning.

Yeah but the inherent problem with this statement is now ALL black youths are lurkers. He said espically, this is what TM was in his mind. My sons are black, so are others. It's this type of language that says to us, you have a problem with us. Not every black kid is a lurker. He should have just said look out for suspicious folks and left it as that.

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

When my husband and I were dating, and I was still living in Canada, we were having an argument over the phone. He was outside on the deck while this was happening. He wasn't screaming, barely raising his voice, and the neighbors called 911 and had cops show up to the house.

And I had to talk to them, on the phone, convincing them I wasn't locked in a room somewhere.

It was effed up. I can't take anybody seriously who calls the cops for really stupid reasons.

Didn't he say initially on the 911 call that he didn't know his race?

It was crazy.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"What? Yes. I'm in Canada right now and we were just having an argument."

"We want to make sure that you're safe."

"I'm in another country."

AND THEN THEY SEARCHED THE HOUSE.

You'd swear he had been screaming death threats at me or something, the way these people reacted.

Can you imagine how complacent cops must get after filtering through all these calls?
