Yeah that's a problem for sure. That situation needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, all the problems are blamed on racism or GZ, when in reality it's an economic issue.

not to bring this up again, because i'm really sick of talking about it ..but, in my opinion gz/tm is about what is considered acceptable racial profiling. i don't think it's about racism, per say.

Because you see it from the proper perspective. I knew you weren't racist from the get go.

Maybe he would have done it if the kid was white, do I think so? No. But like Karee said, I can't read his mind. I am just going off what I've seen when it comes to black men who are killed in ways that never happen to a white man in similar circumstances.

I think he would have. I see Zimmerman as a wanna be cop that was out to make a name for himself. I seriously doubt this was the outcome he was looking for. His biggest problem is that he doesn't have the guts for it, which is also why I think he did not start a conversation with TM, I think GZ was scared. I think he wanted to be a hero of some sort and it backfired on him big time.

This is my point, when you treat someone differently because of a percieved notion, it's discrimination. I'll wager TM wasn't the only person out at 1900 at night, but he had a hoodie on and he was black. This is a combination for disaster to most folks.

His biggest problem is Sanford PD, like all PDs, takes way too long to respond to property crime.

i don't think he would have. i agree he's a mall cop. but who the hell calls the cops on a white kid walking around aimlessly? that's what white kids do best.

Here's the tricky part. He didn't have the gall to approach him when it was the most safest part of the night, the beginning. He didn't want to talk even when TM became aware he was being followed. But once he got out of sight, he lept from his car and pursued him on foot. To me these aren't the actions of a scared man. A scared man would have called the cops and let them do the job, a scared man wouldn't have left the safety of his vehicle, a scared man would have tried to diffuse the situation, not escalate it by demanding to know what you are doing there.

I think he wanted to stop something that wasn't even taking place, and when things got heated, it got worse.

It's very difficult to get inside the head of a scared and confused man. Like I said, I think he wanted to be a hero, but he wasn't brave enough to go the distance or smart enough to handle it properly.

i agree he's a chump but i don't think gz wanted his reputation to be the boy who cried wolf..there was a reason he called to report tm, specifically.

I believe that GZ thought in his mind that TM was up to no good and not because of his color.

Same here. He didn't even know for sure what his race was when he called 911. That right there ends the racial part of this story.
