Hi all,

I have applied for a b1 visa to at the us embassy in Cairo to attend a conference in new york that is organized by the UN who have sent a diplomatic note asking the embassy to facilitate the process of obtaining a visa for me but the counselor officer told me that they approve my visa request but it needs to go through some administrative processing.

The conference will start on 24th August and my flight is already booked and I am worried that I could miss the conference so my question how long should this administrative processing take ? And is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

ThAnks a lot for your help

AP can take anything from a few days to a few months. There's nothing you can do to speed it up.

Generally, people enter longer stints of AP because they have some background that causes a deeper check - such as living or working in certain countries.

If you visa was *just* approved, however, it's normal for a case to be in AP for a day or two, and in this case it just means there's some paper-shuffling before the visa is issued.

You haven't completed a timeline, so I don't know how recently you applied for and were approved your visa.

Well, OK then. That was only Monday. I think you're a ways off panic mode. I'd take AP to just mean "paper shuffle" for now. If it gets beyond 2 weeks, then something more serious may be going on.

Sadly i have no knowledge brother i'm just as worried & frustrated as you due to the fact that there is less than 1 month left for my conference which is a feat opportunity that i don wanna miss.
the only difference between me and you is that i get that message saying my application is still "under necessary administrative processing". I hope that your visa and mine will be out soon InshaALLAH :)

Hi Every One !

I was interviewed on 29th January 2013 in US Embassy Islamabad. Visa Officer took my passport and put into proceedings. On the site of CEAC my case was “PENDING” till one month. Later on it was updated as "NO STATUS". I sent 2 web based E-mails. In reply they said it is in Administrative Processing. Its 6th month is continued and no change happening in my case status.

Please guide me, is it normal duration or it is a matter of concern now ???????? I am bit depressed and worried now.

Please share your knowledge…………………………….
