Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a post and say that my fiance is now here in the United States with me!!! We arrived on Saturday September 7 in the evening.

The process through immigration was easy and went fairly quickly. We flew first class....we didn't buy first class tickets but, well, with a little luck and communication we got upgraded ;) and it was nice to be the first ones off the plane and follow the worker to the immigration area. We got called right up the booth/window and I gave the lady my passport and everything first and then explained to her that I was bringing my fiance from Mexico with a K1 visa and we gave her my fiances' passport, immigration paper, and the sealed packet that came with her visa. She asked my fiance if she had anything to declare and she said no....

She asked where she would be living and I gave the lady my address....

and she asked some other questions but she didn't need to, she just wasn't very familiar with the visa and didn't know where to find the information and asked another immigration officer for help HAHA!

After that, we went to get her suitcases (we had 5 suitcases in total. 1 for me and 4 for her. 2 carry on and 3 checked bags. YEAH GUYS, WATCH OUT!!! GIRLS HAVE LOTS OF CLOTHES AND SHOES :P ) And I couldn't convince her to leave more stuff behind than she had :/ haha I was worried about paying taxes etc...

On her immigration card that we filled out in the plane they just told us to put $0 because it was a special case and I don't know what. Haha so that's what we did and we asked the immigration officer about it because we didn't want to get in trouble for anything and she said it was fine. So we didn't have to pay any taxes or anything.

We picked up her suitcases, turned in the customs paper and left the airport. It was super easy.

Now, just so you all know, we flew into the airport here close to my house because it's not super big and customs is SUPER easy. If I were to fly into LAX it would have been a different story. So, well, this is how it worked out for us but I can't promise you that it will be the same everywhere because airports are different. Also, we both just look so innocent :P hahaha

We are getting married on October 4, 2013 and well I do not know exactly what follows once we get married so now I need to research all of that. Good luck to all of you out there!! And if you have any questions I am glad to answer them as best I can.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I bet you feel a great sense of relief to have her with you.

We just found out on Monday that our case made it to the NVC...after a month!

I'm feeling kinda overwhelmed as to what to do next!

Do you know if they asked your fiancée for acta de antecedentes no penales (I think that's what it's called)?

Any tips you can give a greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much ?

For Juarez, police reports are not required unless they have a criminal history. You do not need the certificate that states they have no police record either. Some people take them anyway though.

My fiance was never asked for that. They never asked her if she had done anything against the law or any of that either.

I would like to thank you so much for posting such detailed and useful information on this website about your experience going through this whole process but especially for your comments on how things went in Ciudad Juarez. We received the letter from the Consulate today (the Package 3) and hope to follow in your footsteps. What a relief it will be when we see that final approval. Your comments will help us plan how much time we need to spend in Ciudad Juarez and what we should expect from each step in this process - the ASC part, the medical exam and then the interview. Your comments help take away some of the anxiety that comes with this part of the process. I have been concerned that they may ask trick or irrelevant questions (like what was the zipcode of your primary school?). But it sounds like that will not happen. Thanks again for sharing such good info.

I completely understand. We were not sure to expect and we tried to find out everything we could before going to Juarez and we decided that we would post a well-detailed post about our experience in hopes that it would help someone else since we wished that we could have found something like that. I know how stressful the whole thing can be and it really does help having an idea of what to expect. It's been over a year now and looking back on the whole experience we have learned a lot and we love being able to answer questions other people have and just help them feel better about the process overall. Good luck in Jaurez! It will go just fine. Make sure you have everything you need, and remember, it's better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it. :)

My wife has her green card interview on December 10, 2014 :)

Decided to post here before starting a new thread. Please shed some light of experience!

1) CDJ has stated multiple times that without the letter I can't schedule or go to the medical appointment? We have been waiting for the "package" for a month now.

2) if the letter is not needed. Can we fly one day before all the appointments and beg for them to print the letter?

Our i129f was approved and we have both NOAs already. Still waiting on the package from CDJ, please provide some tips! We want to start planning the wedding and send out invitations.

The letter you receive points you to the sites where the instructions, forms and place to schedule your appointment and interview is. The letter is the only 'packet' you will receive. You do not have to wait for the letter to begin filling out forms and scheduling appointments. The letter will be needed by the K-1 applicant at their ASC, medical and interview in Juarez, along with the confirmation page from the DS-160. if you do not receive it before going to Juarez, you can get the letter printed out from the information window at the consulate before going to your medical and appointments.

Here are the forms: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html ,

instructions (very important to follow and they explain a lot): http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/CDJ%20-%20Ciudad%20Juarez.pdf,

schedule ASC: http://mexico.usvisa-info.com , and

CDJ info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez

While waiting, you can read through the reviews to see how the procedure works and what documents were needed by others applying for a K-1: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Mexico&cty=&dfilter=5

a date just opened up at the CDJ consulate... Being the closest date July 28th, is this normal? Should I wait to see if other days become available?

Not sure if this is because of the issues they are having with their servers, I called CDJ consulate and they said that would be the closest date I would be able to get and that K type visas have not been affected by the HW problem.

Any experience is welcome... We were planning our wedding for August 15th and an interview of July 28th cuts it pretty close, not really fond of the idea.

Thought I would post our experience for the K1 Visa...

1) I (the US petitioner) sent all docs to the dallas address while currently living abroad.

2) Docs were processed in california. Even with my address being abroad I received both NOA1 and NOA2.

3) NVC received the package and took abou2 2 weeks to forward to Ciudad Juarez

4) Called Juarez consulate, they said they had mailed the letter and there was nothing we could do but wait. Thankfully we found this forum and got a head start.

5) The letter arrived a few days before the interview.

6) traveled to Juarez. They have everything setup, hotel, mall, restaurants, consulate, medical, CAS... all within walking distance

7) Arrived sunday night, monday morning medical exam. Monday afternoon CAS.

8) Tuesday morning interview. Arrived 30m early. Regular questions as to our paperwork, our relationship etc etc.. they had everthing we had sent to Dallas (pictures, emails, etc)

9) Visa approved aprox time span 4 months

10) waiting on the visa to arrive with DHL
