Good luck with securing a tourist visa. There are pinned threads about this very topic. You will have to prove strong ties back home, however since you have a pending I-130 the Embassy will see it as you may be up to funny business and likely deny you a tourist visa. Of course, each case is on an individual basis. I have seen where those from VWP countries seem to be able to travel back and forth while waiting for a pending immigrant visa. However, given Jamaica is considered a high fraud country your chances are slim. Good luck.

just to visit and go back home

I've visited my husband three times since we filed. Always had evidence of my intention to return back home with me, but I was never asked for it at the border.

8 August 2011: Priority date
16 April 2013: NOA2

NVC:

15 May 2013: AOS bill received and paid

16 May 2013: AOS package sent

17 May 2013: DS-3032 accepted

20 May 2013: IV bill received and paid

21 May 2013: IV package sent

11 June 2013: response to IV checklist sent

13 June 2013: Case upgraded to CR1

2 July 2013: Case completed

28 August 2013: Interview - approved!

21 September 2013: POE

18 November 2013: Green card received

My husband's citizenship journey:

If I may assume, you are from a VWP country - Finland. So yes, you can go there and back. Not when you are from so-called 5th world country :D

Very tricky! He could actually go but the officials might translate his visit as intentional. That is, he is coming over to adjust his status when he arrives since PD is current. With visa in hand, he has right to travel but then what does the officials think?

Someone else might also input here...
