You seem to be traveling to the US a lot with little ties to your home country. That might be the issue

good luck

You still didn't answer, how long do you stay? If you are retired, you are over 60, or if you have been retired for 10 years, you are over 70? What do they ask you when you are in the back room? if you don't explain the situation fully then we can't give advice on how to "do it better."

yes, and is the friend your age? Is s/he just a friend? Do you have family in France? Why do you have a B2 when you can use the Visa Waiver Program and travel with no visa?

I guess CBP simply can't understand, that somebody can afford living (traveling, visiting some places) in another country for almost half a year every year. That's all.

You were asked questions, since you could use VWP instead of a tourist visa, if you're French.

And according to your profile, you filled (or somebody filled for you)for EB-2 visa, which is an immigrant visa. If that's true, it's not unusual to be questioned by CBP as much as you are. Because you have an immigrant intent.

With that profile you have done well to be able to get in at all.

A friend of mine had a similar age/pattern, mind you he was working here.

Have you thought of visiting say Canada for a change?

Good point. If you're eligible for VWP, their first question will always be why you applied for a B1/B2.

In your case it makes sense, because you stay more than 90 days.

Not a headache at all to entrance,,,i was asked for return ticket and my bank account. The officier was vey poly whit me,,also was asked about my job in France and I could also provide my retired paper,,,

Every time you enter the US, a record is made for that entry. Every time you leave the US, a record is made for that exit. When you arrive at an airport in the US, the CBP will scan your passport, and can see your travel history. The B1/B2 visa is for tourism or business only.

In the US, it is very uncommon to retire with full pension at age 55. They see you travel every year for 5 - 6 months, and the first thing any reasonable CBP officer will ask him/herself is "how can this guy afford to go on 6 month vacations every year?

What you're doing is fully legal, but it looks very suspicious every time you enter because of how long you stay. Once everything is cleared up (your pension, being retired etc.) it makes sense to them how you can afford to vacation 6 months out of the year, and so they let you go.

This is normal. It's the CBP doing its job. After I graduated college in the US, I did a lot of temp jobs back in Norway, and would frequently visit old college friends as well as relatives in the US. Eventually, I was pulled aside too and asked to clarify why and how I could afford to travel so much. Once that was cleared up I was free to leave.

Some years back it was quite common to get early retirement deals at 55, my Father I think was 57 ish when he retired.

In the UK judging from what I hear it is now much less common, I can imagine that France with much more generous Employment Legislation it is more normal.

Now whether you can expect your average High School educated Immigration Officer to know this is another matter. They will more likely be thinking along US norm lines.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
