Hello, all... I hope I am not too misplaced here since I am the native and my fiancee is the one immigrating... however, I submitted all (and more) of the materials back in january (it is now almost august) for an I-129F to get permission to bring my fiancee to the states and get married. At the beginning of June I finally got some feedback saying that the package had been transferred to a processing facility. That took ages just to get it pointed to the right department....

HOWEVER, I'm not sure now that it IS the right department. I say this because when I go to the uscis site with my case number, it tells me it is under 'initial review' and has been transferred to (confirmed in multiple writings... I got like triplicates of the paper notification of transfer at different times over the course of about two weeks) Texas. When, however, I read about I-129Fs (and, in particular, about how long they take to process) there is no mention of a Texas facility... only California and Vermont. It also says about 5 months... and it's already been longer than that, so I wonder if that's 5 months from point of transfer? And if that's the case, gosh, why did it take them 5 months just to movie the paper to the right (or, perhaps, wrong) facility?

So, my real question is... if Texas processes I-129Fs, why is that a possible research option on their own site? What could this potentially mean?

Apologies, it's just that our lives are in complete limbo over this.. we can't plan ceremonies or anything, and having the paperwork shipped off to a facility that, according to the USCIS site, doesn't even process I-129Fs, only adds to this stress. Hoping for some insights.

Texas isn't a normal I-129F processing site. However, they have transferred batches (3 times) from Vermont to Texas. Yours is indeed being processed in Texas. They have been approving petitions around four weeks after transfer, and in some cases earlier than that. Yours does seem to be taking longer than the "norm" (whatever that is...haha) but I would expect something soon. If not, you're getting into outside normal processing time territory and you can request more information about your file.

p.s. Complete your timeline and people can give you much better advice about how to proceed.

For the life of me, the example image of a NOA1 as shown by the timeline service... I have not gotten that; just some form letters talking about it being moved to texas.

Appreciated; that NoA-T is something I did get ... and it's hiding around here stubbornly somewhere. It's been about 4 weeks then; maybe 5. *sweat*

If you're outside the 5 month processing time (which I believe you're right around that border) you can file a Service Request.

A Service Request (I just found this out today) is a request for an immigration officer to look at your case and give you an estimate for when it'll be adjudicated. This can be slowed down by countries who aren't completely computerized, so they have to search through and send physical files for background checks, but your fiance(e) is from the UK so I doubt that's an issue. :)

I would recommend that if by month 6 you don't have an RFE or a Decision, then you should contact a Tier 2 IO & file a service request or if applicable an e-request as well as write a letter or email to your congressman to bring attention to your case.

If you are not adjudicated by 8 months, schedule and infopass appointment and contact your congressman again.

Walp, sudden approval ... sometimes complaining about the universe seems to nudge it along. *studies what is next* Bad timing, though... I'll be in the UK for half of august... probably right smack dab in the middle of what they'll want to dictate for my schedule of whatever is left to do... hopefully they adjust to rescheduling well.
