I just got our packet sent back to us because the check for $1070 was the "wrong amount." We are on our honeymoon and have no idea what went wrong. All of our records are on the computer at home so I can't even investigate until Friday. I now see that people have recommended sending the biometric fee in a separate check. Why is this info not given in the AOS info? This is setting us back at least a month.

Sent I-129F: 3/19/2012
Approved at interview in Montreal: 3/4/2013

..........

Married 6/29/2013

Filed AOS: 7/8/2013 and rejected because of a lost check!

Resubmitted and received by USCIS: 8/26/2013

RFE for expired I-865 received by USCIS: 9/5/2013

EAD and AP approved: 9/19/2013

EAD/AP card received: 9/27/2013

Status changed to "Testing and Interview": 10/2/2013

Appointment notice mailed: 10/10/2013

Interview appointment: 11/12/2013 *Approved!*

Here is the USCIS links associated Form I-485 fees, filing and paying:

The Guides are still correct. Please refer to the "Filing Fee" section of the first USCIS link above for specific details.

Last August, we paid our two AOS applications (K-1, K-2) with ONE check in the amount of $2140 ($1070 for each app.), payable to the "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" (as specified in the Form I-485 instructions). They were accepted and processed without any issues or problems.

There are likely many of us that are interested in hearing the specific details of the "wrong amount" app. return issue. Please report back upon your return.

YMMV.

Good luck.

One check for $1070 works and has been the recommendation for as long as I can recall.
