Hello,

I've finally decided to sign up for an account because I'm seeing more and more that our little bureaucracy is just awful.

I'm a March 2013 filer and I've been trying to wait patiently despite the very slow movement and lack of updates from USCIS themselves, but now it's just plain confusing. My file seems to just be sitting there in a pile that won't be touched for a long time. This is perfectly fine for me if they were going to review it at the NVC because I'm sure they have many ahead of me, but that's not at all the case. My State Senator's Office told me that my file hasn't been touched because they haven't assigned an officer to the case. But at the same time they are going to transfer my file to my local field office in Portland and the wait for them to transfer the file and review it is 9 months. Now what's confusing is that if they have files that they will surely transfer to local field offices, why hold them in a large stack of papers at the NVC? My local field office processes things fairly quickly as it's not as busy as many other field offices. I've contacted one of my senators and they gave me the information above. I also contacted one of my House Representatives and they told me the office is just terribly backlogged and they would get to it soon seeing as he established congressional interest in the case. I don't see the point of the NVC holding cases that they won't even decide on. These offices could be so much more efficient, but they just do what they want. It drives me crazy that they cash the check in less than a few days and then take as long as they want to work efficiently. Is anyone else in the same boat and just waiting for their file to be transferred to a field office? Is the wait really 9 months as they told the senator, but not the house member? This is nerve wrecking! We're in serious need of some transparency as our taxes pay the salaries of the individuals with our lives in their hands! protest6wz.gif

Unfortunately it is always a waiting game for all. Some people do not even know if they are going to be transferred or not. They sit in a big pile and wait... to be reviewed or sent off when it is their turn to be looked at. It is in fact that much of a backlog - they are not going to stop to process and move them as soon as they receive them. They have the "order they were received mentality", even though is is not always followed... it is more a general guideline. Four months is nothing for most people at this stage. You are lucky if it moves at all under 4 months!

We waited at least 7 months ourselves. All you can do at this point is be patient, and know that for the most part this is the longest wait through the process (with the exception of some AP time frames).

Best of luck for a quick and smooth journey!

Yes, I feared this. It's crazy because it used to be much more efficient. They told me about the order received as well, but there have been quite a few exceptions and it always makes me wonder why they touch some and not others. I can't do anything now, but once it hits 5 months, the processing time they show on their official sites, I'll talk to some more senators and maybe the Ombudsman. Patience is very difficult in such times as it puts all life plans on complete hold, but I'll try!

Thanks for the response and information!
