Wow that was quick!! Ugh I would honestly rather be going all the way to Vancouver than Montreal. I hear horror stories of the wait time for an interview at Montreal. I am hoping by the time I get to the point to book an interview I am one of the lucky ones who only has to wait a month or so.

Our original interview was 77 days from packet 4, but rechecking the site within an hour we found one ~40 days away. All you have to do is recheck the site and you'll likely find a better day.

Okay, I have a question. Dr. Cheema's site asks for a letter with my name, case number and interview date. I have my interview confirmation that has my name, interview date and confirmation date but not my case number. or I have my Packet 4 that has my name and case number but not my interview date. Am I missing something?

I have my interview and medical scheduled...

1. Oh my goodness how many of us are fleeing the Calgary area? Lol.

2. I think I've seen something to that effect on here before...I'll do some digging to see what I can find once I get into work and am at a big kid computer. Yes, I'll have time, the lawyers I'm covering seem to ignore the fact that I exist...

3. All else fails, maybe a copy of...something from Vancouver with your number on it and do they give you some sort of confirmation about your appointment? (Don't hold me to it - like I said I'll do the dig when I get into the office in a couple hours, cause at some point when I get this house bs settled, I'll need to know it too lol)

I saw this same question in another thread somewhere here on VJ, and the respondent replied that as long as you have documents with all that data combined, it would be fine.

Yes it is. The letter was mailed out to you already.

2. L E T T E R: The letter that shows your NAME and CASE NUMBER and APPOINTMENT/INTERVIEW DATE. We are unable to examine you without the letter showing both your NAME and CASE NUMBER AND INTERVIEW DATE as per the regulations.

I am a little confused and I am sure, as you could imagine, Nervous about having the right documents.

Anyone have a break down of costs for the entire K1 process? The only info I can find is from 2006! Thanks!

So far all I know is the initial $340 fee

So far there has been the Filing fee for the 129F

The visa fee fo $240

The Medical - $280

and about $1000 for travel and hotel and such to get to and from the appointments.

You have to pay the visa fee (part of packet 4 instructions) before you can book your interview. There is no other fees to the consulate. The medical is paid seperately at the Doc's office.

Thank you Pro Star. I will be driving very carefully. Stopping for breaks, and walks to keep awake, and to eat and all that stuff, so I have slotted a very long day Monday and again on Friday.

Also, thanks kc247 for saying that they'll manage the correction of the Consulate. It will save me one more task.

I can only hope the K3 isn't 'dead', and it's still defined as an available option on sites including USCIS. Guess I'll be the guinea-pig here as far as that goes:)

The extra costs of that route don't trouble me, it's being away from my husband that is at the core of attempting that option.

Only 290 K3 visas were granted by the NVC in 2012. That's out of over 88000 spousal visas. So less than 0.33% worldwide.

Remember the USCIS starts the process with the petitions but you do not apply for a visa until you're at the NVC, and your interview is always at the consulate. The K3 has dropped significantly over the years, but the major drop was from over 3000 in 2010 to 670ish in 2011. That's when the NVC decided that if your I-129F petition arrives at the same time or after the I-130, they would close the I-129F. Also there was a case where the I-129F reached the NVC first, and was sent onto Montreal, but they closed the I-129F because there was an approved I-130 as well. (lookup username EmilyS)

There is no interview fee. Just the visa fee of $240. Applying for the visa gets you the interview
