Congrats! When did you guys receive your NOA1?

Also, random question, how do you get your timeline thingy to show up on your posts and that animated timeline?

Be careful - now that your thread is in the Regional Sub-Forum... you're going to be getting timelines from all sorts of Visas. Just a head's up!

And people with tickers (like mine) in their signature make them at sites like "TickerFactory.com" and then copy & past the code provided into our 'signature' which can be done while editing your profile with VJ.

Hi.. we are still waiting. We filed k1 in Feb and then got married in April and file 1-130. Seems that CSC has been cruising thru k1. We changed because we wanted to be married now...we are almost 60 and we didn't want the wait time on AP due to an elderly dad in Canada. We were childhood sweethearts and thought we have been separate long enough! For me there seens no rhime or reason for the different wait times. It almost seems to me that Canadians wait longer!

ok ya I see some people getting their K1's rather quickly, hoping that's me!! I just filed this month so I know it will be awhile just wanted to see the wait times people have experienced this year.

What happens when you get married and change your application? Do you re-start and have to wait longer? How does that work?

Yes you have to start completely over.

Just like if the beneficiary leaves the USA before AP is granted, they would have to start over. :)

NOA2 June 24. MTL# was given over the phone on Friday from NVC. I'm waiting in response to my email to the consulate asking if they have received my case. I have packet three all ready to go.

You should actually call DOS and see if MTL has logged your stuff in the computer. If so, then I would say send out packet 3. This is from a link that I found and I have posted the link below this information.

3. DOS

After you get word that the petition is headed for Montreal, give it a few days (Id say minimum a week) and you can start calling the Department of State (DOS). Their number is: 1-202-663-1225 and to get to a visa specialist, its 1 and then 0. This operator will want your MTL # and sometimes both the names and dates of birth for both petitioner and beneficiary. At this stage, youll go through the follow things with DOS:

-Has your petition arrived in Montreal? If it has not, theres nothing to do yet. Montreal is notorious for delays in its mailroom so even if you think its unrealistic it hasnt physically arrived yet, chances are its sitting somewhere waiting to be logged. Until DOS gives the word the petition is in Montreal, you just have to sit tight.

-Once the case has arrived, you can ask DOS is Packet 3 has been sent out. Even if it hasnt, you can prepare and send Packet 3 yourself, the important thing is to make sure Montreal has your case before you send them anything.

There just doesn't seem to be any rhime or reason for some approvals quick or lengthy. We filed April 19 (NOA1 April23) I honestly wonder if they deal with Canadians differently. In February I saw people getting NOA2 in 2 months! We had filed a 1-129F but switched to 1-130 because we simply wanted to be married now. We got notification that our 1-129F was about to be approved when we changed. Drats. But I was worried about the wait time for AP. Any Canadians have any thoughts about our timelines? Why would someone who filed after us get approval? I am happy for them but it just seems odd.

Also I wanted to mention that it seems that Canadians need less vaccinations than other countries if you look on the Montreal Embassy info site. Anyone with experience on this?

All the best to all of you!

Ricky and elaine - I bet you'll see your I-130 approved in the next few months. I think Vegas is pretty quick and normally around the 4-5 month mark. Depending on how long it takes the NBC to send them the petition of course.
