FRACKING. People are getting crazy rich there, right now. This is all very new. That area used to be nothing... really nothing. Now every hotel is fully booked (of course there were hardly any to begin with, no need), filled with day laborers and itinerant workers. People who got in on the ground floor, paying hardly any to be a part of it, are now rich rich rich.

So that map, interesting and sad about the South, but for ND, it's all fracking, and it's all based on new data, not long term patterns.

So it's like the California gold rush, this time in ND with natural gas (and a harmful way to get it, btw). So the lesson is, in America, wait around in your dinky town until someone discovers something in the ground, apparently?
