Ok. Getting ready to apply for a CR-1 visa for my Thai wife. I have a question about the box where it says "last address outside the USA for more than one year". I have been working as a contractor for the US military in Afghanistan from September 2008 until present. During this time my legal residence has always been at my US address. I use my US address on all my tax returns, my bank statements, my mortgage statements, credit card statements, etc. I have only been physically present in the US for about three weeks each year for the past five years. While working, I am physically present in Afghanistan, and my other vacations have been spent in Thailand with my lady. I have an APO(army post office) address for whatever particular military base I happen to be working at in Afghanistan. Should I include my APO address in the G-325a form? Even though my legal residence has always been in the US.

Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

I have always taken this to mean you physical address outside the USA for more than one year. So the APO address, if you received mail there, would suffice (or the army base name.) It's quite understandable that you retained a permanent address within the USA. But maybe someone else who has more knowledge than I do can help you better.

The only things I received at my APO address were care packages and items that I ordered online. I use my US address for all bills and tax returns.

Doesn't matter. You need to answer the question honestly as you do with all others. They don't care where you were especially because you maintained the U S domicile.
