Been MIA for a couple of weeks, been all over the place and out the country a bunch so only just gotten around to coming on here.

So, I had my medical exam this morning. Tracy&Greg it's really simple and straight forward. Just remember to fill in the questionnair before you get there, they give you something else to fill in as well which is pretty much a duplicate of it but that's it. All exams are straight forward and the guy who does the Xrays is very nice too. I didn't have to do any vaccinations as I got them done at my local surgery before hand for free, but those are right at the end. Took about 45mins in total or even less!

Got told to wait a couple of days in case they need to contact me about my results but otherwise I should just wait for the embassy to contact me about my interview... is this right? I thought I had to call them to book my interview?

Nich-Nick you're going to probably want to shoot me but you seem to be the best person to ask about these things. I have read that thread again and again. Can you just for my own sanity (sorry I'm sleep deprived only 3.5 hrs sleep, long story!) tell me if that's what I do or if I have to ring the call centre to arrange an appointment? I was thinking of waiting until Friday to do so if I hadn't heard anything yet.

I sent my packet 3 things back with my DS2001 the day I got them (11th July) as I had everything I needed at the time. I'm still waiting for the police certificate but I got told I should have that this week, plus I already have one dated until the end of August from last year so the other one is just for in case I don't get an interview date before it expires.

Also does anyone know what the wait is like for interview dates in London at the moment? I'm going to check the London forum now too.

Thanks!!

Hi, the embassy will arrange your interview for you, from what I can tell it usually takes 2-4 weeks after they've received your medical results. As long as you've sent in your DS2001, as well as your other forms (which I see you have!), you just need to wait for them to send you an interview letter. I'm not sure about wait times... when I called DOS a couple of weeks ago, the lady told me that July and August were booked up, yet I received my appointment on the 13th July for August 8th (I had my medical on June 28th). All you can do is wait really!

Also, the guy who took my X-Rays is great. I got a history lesson from him lol.

Good luck :)

I'm going to send in the DS2001 a few days before the medical so they know I'm ready and that the medical results should (hopefully) arrive at about the same time. They've already had the "packet 3" stuff so should have a box file with my name on it already.

I'm taking Nich-Nick's advice on sticking within reason to what the US Consulate is expecting and has the procedure in place for but I'm not in a huge rush at the moment. Apart from the small matter of getting my house on the market....

If you've sent back all your DS forms, then you don't have to do anything now. In 4 working days, your medical results will reach the embassy and then you're welcome to try calling the Dept. of State line or the Embassy to see if they've scheduled your interview yet, otherwise, you just wait until the Packet 4 letter drops on your doorstep with your interview date.

Did you specify a wedding date in your cover-letter with the DS-2001 form? London generally makes an effort to help people make wedding/travel dates.

The others are correct. Just wait. Three pieces to the puzzle have to be received (and opened and logged in) before London will assign an interview:

DS--xxx application forms

DS-2001 with cover letter to let them know you have all the interview documents in hand

Medical results

They can be received in any order really. Yes, the website says to apply with the four forms ASAP, then go gather documents and have a medical. But people still get visas when they hold the application forms until after their medical. Nobody has made a case by case comparison of whether doing it in London's stated order goes more efficiently.

How long? I don't know. I swore off fretting timelines and constantly checking status way back when we waited for the petition NOA2. I recognized the early signs of crazy-grumpy disease in myself. I knew we were a genuine couple and eventually every box on my VJ timeline would be colored blue. Maybe that's why I actually didn't find it stressful once I settled in. Always curious, but not stressed. It seems like a good answer for how long after required things were received by London has always been---allow 3 weeks to hear back from them, even though you'd prefer to hear back the next day.

While you wait, the UK partner can make an effort to enjoy friends and family and sort out their packing. The US partner can start on this AOS list https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FIsgnb7Tfj7tcRNnqRMKUOXQdEfR6HTUDY2vX6zKqqU/mobilebasic?authkey=CNXN_oQH

Nich-Nick thanks for advice on the AOS list I was wondering about that. i'll get on it asap.

I called the embassy and the lady said there was a back log of 6 weeks to even receive an appointment for interview :/ but taking from catie-b who received her appointment date in 2 weeks I'm going to just stay positive!

I haven't fully started moving plans yet, I don't have a lot to ship out and the only things I'm concentrating on now is the wedding prep, dress, location etc. We have a date set and I wrote it in my covering letter lost_at_sea but it's not until November! I hope they don't make us wait until October :/

I have a trip booked for Sweden 10th August for a few days so don't mind waiting until I get back to try them again. Thanks for all the advice peeps :)

A November wedding could get you pushed back behind all the people who said or will say August, September, October, so don't panic if you don't hear from them right away. You may have been relegated to the "later" box. So enjoy your planning instead of calling the embassy everyday. It'll come.

GeeH, I have a few questions for you:

1) How did you complete a medical without the police certificate? I thought that you had to have the certificate to hand on the day.

2) Is it not possible to get an interview scheduled without the medical being completed? I've read older threads where people had their medicals a few days before the interview, or has this changed?

Gee had a police certificate from August 2012. She used that at the medical and was waiting on a new one for the interview because the 12 month validity might be up before her interview.

It is not possible to get an interview without the embassy receiving the medical results. The police certificate for the medical and no interview until results are received are both changes from around 2010. Yes, prior to the change, people attended the medical the day before, same day, or day after the interview.
