Additional information re: DS-260 from DoS website:

Next Steps – Access the Consular Electronic Application Center
To determine if your petition began processing in time to join the program and to access Form DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application, and Form DS-261, Choice of Address and Agent, click Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website. After logging in, follow the directions displayed noting the following:

  • If CEAC provides you with the option of completing a DS-260 (note it may be grayed-out because you have not paid your Immigrant Visa Fee), you are required to complete the DS-260.
  • If CEAC provides you with online payment information only, you are NOT required to complete the DS-260.

So, see what CEAC tells you. If it doesn't give you the option, don't sweat it.

The DOS website currently says the form is used only if--

The petition was approved in the U.S. and the immigrant case is being processed by the National Visa Center (NVC); and

Applications are:

-Family based (Form I-130 petition); or

-Employment based (Form I-140 petition); or

-For certain special immigrants (Form I-360 petition); or

-For an immigrant entrepreneur (Form I-526 petition); and

It seems like DCF currently doesn't fit that description on the first line.

Oh, blimey. Totally over looked that. Thank you! You're right, from that I would assume that DCF cases should not do the DS-260 (and likely won't even be given the option since it's all controlled online now).

Still, have a bad feeling there will be confusion about this down the line, as the instructions that DCF folks are sent are the same ones that go to regular IR/CR-1 (and will include the info about the DS-260 being in force from Sept 1st). Ugh. They have in one moment made things easier (less forms) and probably more confusing for a lot of people.

Thanks Lost at Sea, read this on the Embassy Website, on-line does sound easier, hurrah. Given it says on their website you will do it, seems it is relevant for DCF.

DS-260 - more info.

London have finally clarified a little about who should complete the DS-260 and how. Note the information about invoice numbers, which DCF folks won't get.

http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

If you received your instruction letter dated on or after September 1st, 2013, you should complete the following forms:

  • DS-260 (replaces both the DS-230 I & II)
  • DS 2001 (PDF - 75.85kb)
  • Affidavit of Support, Form I-864

When completing the DS-260, applicants who filed the petition in the UK should provide their case number (normally beginning with LND) and their date of birth (in the format YYYYMMDD) in place of the invoice number.

I don't know if this is helpful but this is new information:

The document form checklist DS-2001 is no longer in use.

http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

Use online the Notification of Readiness form (this is based on the website via the link below at the bottom of the webpage)

http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notif...ness_form.html

I submitted my I-130 yesterday so I would be happy to keep you updated on the steps I will have to go through in order for the DCF London instructions to be accuarte!

2013-22-05: Sent I-130 to Chicago Lockbox

2013-10-06: NOA1 received - Petition at Overland Park, Kansas

2013-11-12: Email stating our I-130 has been transferred to a local USCIS Office

2013-13-12: Email stating our I-130 was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office

Have now decided to do DCF through the London Embassy:

2013-22-10: Overnighted a second I-130 to London

2013-24-10: NOA1

2013-21-11: Letter requesting that we cancel our I-130 petition filed in the U.S.

2013-09-12: NOA2

Packet 3 Form update from September 1st 2013 - DS-260:

http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

Applicants returning their DS forms after September 1st should now complete and return the DS-260, rather than the DS-230 and DS-2001.

It's unclear what those who have already complete their DS forms (Packet 3 return) but are interviewing after September 1st should do. Probably wise to complete a DS-260 as well as the forms already mailed. Read follow up comment: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/443127-dcf-london-i-130-for-ir1cr1-spouse-guide/?p=6480459

Hey Lost at sea. Can you clarify...? I am confused if I am to complete the DS-230? On my checklist from the Embassy for everything I need to bring to the visa interview it states to complete the DS-260 Electronic Application . Nowhere on the form states to complete a DS-230?

Also, am I right in thinking that after the Medical, we will be contacted for our interview date? We have a medical date for Dec 9. I wasn't sure if we were to call and make the visa interview appointment or not?

Yes, it's the DS-260 now (they changed the forms twice in the space of, like, a month. Very confusing for everyone.) completed online.

http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

After the medical results have been received by the embassy (takes about 4 working days) and they've received your DS-2001 "Notification of Applicant Readiness" (now submitted electronically here: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html) they will notify you by letter of your interview appointment (although you can also call the DoS line to find out if you have been scheduled one). You can't schedule your own interview.

It takes them 4 - 6 weeks to schedule your interview, then it'll normally be 2 - 4 weeks later.

Packet 3 return form updates:

Applicants return the DS-260 online (replaces DS-230) and submit the DS-2001 Notification of Applicant Readiness electronically when all documents for interview have been acquired.

http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html

The DS-2001 submission form can be found by clicking "Read more..." on the right hand side, then the link at the end of the page you get to, which will eventually lead you to this form:

http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html

Sadly, using this form no longer gives the immigrant applicant a way to specify any travel plans. If you have urgent plans, it is probably best to send a follow-up email via the embassy contact form: http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/iv_contact_page.html
