FedEx no longer allowed in Philippines

Just came across this article: http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/business/07/21/13/ca-voids-fedex-permit-operate-ph

Looks like you won't be able to mail to the Philippines using FedEx anymore since they are not owned by Filipinos and that's against the Philippines constitution?

Wonder if they will do the same to UPS?

Well, that cuts out some graft and theft, yes?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Sounds more like they need to forward with a local company and can not operate independently.

This makes sense but will like result in higher costs.

Wonder what would happen to ups dhl and many other companies though. There is likely other complexities involved.

Not good...with fed ex, it forces the local companies to compete and improve their service but if you take them out and other foreign owned couriers...I'm afraid the the locals will be lax....

I just read "Pending the final decision of the Supreme Court, the CAB has confirmed that FedEx can continue to operate under the license" on this link: http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/business/07/22/13/fedex-philippines-continue-operations

I know I'm going to look for other options now to be safe.
