Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this situation . My Gross earnings for this year are below the poverty level for a family of four thats counting me and my two kids and my wife from the Philippines . If I i use a Co sponsor I was told the embassy in Manila will frown on this and more then likely deny us a K-3 I am wondring if anyone who doesn't make the poverty level and used a Co sponsor has received a K-3 from the Embassy in Manila ? thanks in advance

Hi Mark, we seem to face the same dilemma. My husband (USC) hasn't had a job in three years and has been receiving SSA benefits since then. We haven't submitted anything yet (we are in the process of putting papers together while my husband is here in Manila). We also have someone to co-sponsor for us. Although I haven't heard of such a thing in the US Embassy in Manila, the information you have provided poses a threat in our soon-to-be-filed K3 petition. I hope that information isn't true. Please update me with your petition, and I will let you know how mine goes.

What I can't understand is why the consular officer would deny an American citizen of his right to bring his family to the US on the basis of current financial situation... Not fair.

I hope those with similar situation will reply to this thread.
