SS-5

I-94

Passport

Birth certificate.

The printed web page indicating K-1 is eligible for a SSC

Anything I'm missing?

Immigration status;

Work eligibility;

Age; and

Identity.

Step 2

FILL OUT AND PRINT

an application

(Form SS-5)

Step 3

TAKE OR MAIL

your application and documents to

Social Security

Go get it on Monday AM

We went in today for the social security card today. In and out in ten minutes. YMMV

The official had no question about eligibility to work. He seemed to be well trained in regard to K-1 / I-94

The only glitch was he wanted her to verbally confirm she had not applied previously and everything on the form was correct. She didn't understand the question. I told her to just say yes, the guy didn't like that much, but didn't hold things up either.

When we applied, they asked us for our marrigage license in order to get here SSC with her married name.

We got her SSC today. it is stamped "valid for work only with DHS authorization"

What does that mean exactly?
