It is a derogatory word aimed at the group of people who lean a certain way politically in the U.S. - people who usually vote for the Democratic Party or Parties with similar platform stances as the Democratic Party, support more environmentally resourceful measures, support a greater government safety net, more peaceful resolutions to world conflicts, abortion, legalization of drugs, and/or other political beliefs - and used by people who are on the opposite side of those beliefs to make them feel better about their own intelligence when it comes to such matters.

Yes. I am for Woman's right to choose, Gay rights, Equal rights, reducing military involvement overseas.
