I'm a bit leery of people who dress either to get attention or to make society pay. Seems like they're too into themselves. Like they have to take it upon themselves to make the world wake up or something. I dunno, I guess I just don't care about people's little crusades. I suppose there are any number of reasons to dress any number of ways. It just always comes off as an attention thing to me.

are we talking about highschool kids or thirtysomethings? because out of my outcast friends from highschool - no one dresses for attention or to make society pay. that's a teen, fitting in sort of thing. freaks wear freak uniforms, preps wear prep uniforms, poor kids wear poor kid's uniforms (and they get made fun of the most, don't they?) - that's all highschool. a number of my old school friends are heavily, heavily tattooed but have nine to five jobs, kids..they don't dress to rebel or stand a part anymore. they still enjoy their personal taste in music/art/life but don't need anyone's attention or approval. young adults leave that behind once they start to feel secure with themselves.

I don't like libtards. I'm not some staunch conservative, so don't peg me, no man.

However, when I run across libtards in person, I smile and give them a batch of exlax-imbued chocolate brownies.

Yes, I make a batch at least 3 times a week.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I was a misunderstood, black-clad, Smiths-listening high school student.

I became a misunderstood, black-clad, Smiths-listening adult. Except now the black is chic, not scary.

I guess all of it really. Of course high school everything is about attention in every group.

When I look at people with crazy hair, excessive body jewelry, or tons of non-hidden tattoos, I always think to my self, "Well, one less person for me to compete with in my job market"

One of the best movie lines I recall was John Travolta in face off.

He told the daughter, you dress up like Halloween you gonna attract ghouls.

I understand you should not judge people, but I find it odd they dress in a way in which they know people are going to react, then get made when they notice

True. Someone with a lot of visible tats (a few are ok) and/or crazy hair couldn't get in where I work where I am.

i had completely black hair that was shaved underneath when i decided to stop working at the pool and get a "real job" in retail. my poor mom paid to have my hair stripped twice and redyed close to my natural color, all so i could earn better money to buy more cassettes and weed.
