I had my interview (successful) early last month. The questions were pretty standard as reported by other users, and i get the impression that it's more a formality as long as your documents are in order: what is your highest level of education, where do you plan to live, what do you now, what do you want to do there, do you have any family or friend in the US, when do you plan to go, are you aware the visa is only valid for 6 months from date of issue. The papers requested are exactly as outlined on the dvselectee page. Be sure to bring photocopies of everything if you want the originals back.

As you will probably know (with the rare exceptions of the countries where they require an affidavit of support) there is no specific guideline for what to present for financial position. I was still asked if I had brought any documents showing my financial position - I had a couple of bank statements and statements of my stock & mutual fund holdings, which seemed to satisfy him.

Also, our documents were checked before we paid the visa fee - apparently if they are not adequate they tell you that you probably won't get the visa and give you the option of not paying/proceeding with the interview (not sure if all consulates work this way). We didn't have our police certificates yet but had everything else, he told us to send them through when we got them and then they would issue (which they did).
