Hi VisaJourney,

I filed a removal of conditions (I-751) petition in August 2012 and received a Request for Evidence this April. I submitted my response to the RFE on July 2nd (the response had a document missing, with a cover letter explaining why). I don't know whether the RFE response has been accepted at the service center for them to process the case. Different people have told me it'll take 10, 30 or 60 days for them to update the case status in the online system.

I'd like to travel outside the country for a few weeks. My question is, can I do so without risking my case?

(I have my expired green card plus the notice of receipt that extends it for a year, but someone at USCIS advised me to wait until the case status was updated to say they were processing the RFE response, and if that takes 30-60 days, then it'll be too late for me to make the trip. It's past the RFE deadline, so if they haven't accepted my response, that seems like it might be a problem?)

Thanks for any help!
