We are a january filer. Our case got moved to Texas. Recently on July 3rd, we got an RFE, they asked us to send us a consent letter that both me and my fiance are still interested to marry within 90 days of coming to US. We sent our RFE on July 13th.

There wasnt any other info they requested from us. Does it mean we are close to approval?

What will happen next? Does anyone know how long it could take till we get our VISA interview?

An RFE is always a good sign. Shows that the case is moving. I was asked for an RFE and in my case they asked for a list of 7-8 things

1. Photos

2. Proof that i visited her in the last 2 years

3. Credit card reciepts from our meeting

4. Affidavit from family members who attended the ring ceremony

5. Passport copy with exit and entry stamps

6. Proof of US citizenship

7. Intent to marry within 90 days

8. Copy of Indian Visa on my passport.

I mailed the RFE back to them on a Thursday and by Tuesday of the following week it was approved.

Dont panic. All is well. This is a positive sign that your case is moving. Hopefully this helps.

Hi Kinu554,

Appreciate your response. We have sent everything in the list that you have except, 'Intent to marry within 90 days'. We sent it back by July 18th, they received on this day. Hopefully we will hear back again.

Today its July 24th. By the time, we get to NVC, and interview. do you think it would be another month? We have mentioned, 'Chennai' as our consulate. Do they decide this or we can pick which location?

Thanks again,

Swapna

The consulate is always that one that you mention or the one closest to you. For my fiancé, Delhi works, hence that’s the one that we mentioned and I suppose that that’s where the file is headed.

As far as the RFE, once they receive it, your online status should change to “Initial Review” and then within 24-48 hours to “Post decision activity” which means that it’s been approved (if all goes well). Like I said that with our case, the approval after the RFE took 2 days.

I hope that the process is a bit faster between the NVC and visa. I read that calling the NVC is better as the case is transferred electronically and is done faster.

Hence you might not get NVC case number in the mail till about 2-3 weeks. My case was approved on July 17th and I called on Monday July 22nd. They said that they don’t have the file yet. I will call again (603-340-0700). They get the files from the service centers on Fridays. Once they have the file, they assign you a case number and then you can pay the fees. This makes it go a bit faster. From what I read, the process can take about a month to 2 from here on out. It all depends on the consulate and their workload.

Hope this helps.

Our RFE is taking a long time for some reason. They just asked us for only one thing, 'Letter of Intent'. I am assuming they had everything else they need as they would have requested if they dont have it.

Its been a week. I am not sure whats going on. Getting a little worried.

I received RFE notice via e mail on July 15, 2013 and I still do not have a hard copy of RFE as of today 07/24/13. I have no clue what exactly is required by USIC. I sent every thing possibly I could think of with my initial filing of I-129F to VSC. My file was transferred to TSC on June 22, 2013. That is where my problem lies. I called the yesterday and did not get any proper answer by talking to Tier 1 or tier 2 officer. They just said wait till I get my hard copy in the mail. As per them RFE is time sensitive. Tier 2 officer told me my processing time stars again after receiving the RFE, which means I wail again for 6-8 months. . This is not fair and there must be some help or solution available. I have noticed here, many of April, 2013 filers got approved and numerous are still waiting to get approved who filed in 2012. I failed to understand how they work with their system. Hoping to resolve this matter soon if any help or advice is greatly appreciated on this matter.

Hello, We've just been informed that we are approved!! dancin5hr.gif Do we have to wait for a notice on paper? Can we call the NVC?

Congratulations on approval. Yes, you can wait for NAO2 hard copy. Hold off on calling NVC yet. Do so after 2 weeks have passed since your approval date.

2 weeks is a bit long I feel. I heard the case is transferred to NVC within 1 week? And USCIS postal mail is so late. They should send such things in priority mail I feel.

Is there a phone number to call them? Can we give our receipt number ?

Well to my side of the world. The grass is not greener here. We got our NOA in the mail 2 weeks ago. I have called the NVC many times and they still dont have a case number or the file. They say that call back next week. I just called them again and same answer. The number is 603-334-0700.

As for now my goal is to search and have the required documents ready. I hear the you need the I-134 Affidavit of support. This needs to be the original so i must get it filled out, attached my bank reference letter, my last 4 paystubs and my employment letter with it. I plan to mail it to India this week.
