Your post obviously puts this into a black and white issue. Granted, a lot of blacks were upset about the outcome of this case, but you discount the fact that a lot of whites were outraged as while, including myself.

I don't have to be part of the black community to see the injustice in these laws. So please, don't include me in your so call stats of white vs black argument.

If you look at the numerous protests taking place, you would clearly see they are multi-racial, not just blacks protesting.

You continue to misconstrue this subject and even the President's speech today. He clearly stated, the jury spoke and we should accept it. However, he realized and understood how people have the right to peacefully protest laws they feel are unjust. I agree.

You talk about how more blacks are the lower pay scale, but what stats are looking at??

Here is an interesting stat....It's more white people on food stamps than blacks!

The President acknowledged in his speech how blacks are aware of the high black on black crime, but nonetheless stressed the need for understanding and the need to look for solutions to solve these issues.

What's funny, we often talk about the high percentage of blacks killing other blacks right?

But these stats work both ways, as what percentage of whites are killing other whites? You guessed it.....a very high percentage!!

I never claimed to be speaking for you or anyone else. I gave an opinion like everyone else does here. Up until the post above, I wasn't sure you could actually read or comprehend the English language, since you were accusing me of supporting Hitler or something along those lines. Blacks commit more than twice as many murders than whites in relation to their percentage of the population. That's a fact. No way around that. Until people can accept facts instead of sugar coated bull$hit, then nothing is gonna change. Same thing with food stamps. Newsflash, whites make up more of the population than blacks, so it stands to reason that more whites are on food stamps. I'd like to see what percentage of the white population are on food stamps as opposed to what percentage of the black population are on food stamps. Maybe there is a higher percentage of whites on food stamps. I don't know. I doubt it though since the unemployment and underemployment rates are much higher in the black community. There are huge challenges facing minorities in this country, especially black communities. Nobody is addressing those though. They'd rather run around citing this trial as another example of how life is unfair to black people in this country. My point in my previous post is that all that energy could be spent improving the lives and future of minorities. I'd bet the parents of all the black children that are killed by senseless gang violence are scratching their head wondering where is all the outrage for their dead children.

I've post this a while ago, it's 39% white and 35% black. So in the case of raw number there are more whites than blacks on welfare, but since blacks make up for less of the population this would still be a problem.

And do you know why there is no outrage for the kids killed by gang violence? Because no one cares outside of that community. I've posted countless links to it here when someone talks about more guns and what's the response? We don't care, more guns. I've talked about the mother who lost all 4 kids to gun violence, what was the response? Don't take my guns, I don't care. I've talked about more kids get killed in Chicago than Iraq and Afghanistan combined, but no one cares, don't take their guns. Black folks are rallying behind this because at least someone is listening.

You'll get no argument from me there. Maybe somehow this thing can turn into a larger discussion about the REAL issues that affect the African American community. I guess you have a point that you have to start somewhere.

The issues that are killing the black community are mostly internal and they will never been talked about among black leaders.

Maybe this will change that. Who knows. From what I've seen coming from most black leaders, I seriously doubt it. The way some of them talk, if GZ would've been convicted, that would've made everything right in the world.

You are absolutely correct, I accused you of supporting Hitler because you are naïve in your repeated comments that people should not protest.

You made repeated comments how you could not understand why people could not accept the verdict and move on.

Hello......This is how the American system works. A democratic society is free to protest laws they feel are unjust.....a concept you clearly fail to comprehend still. Hitler also didn't believe in a democratic society....he believed in a Dictatorship! In a Dictatorship, people could not organize and protests laws.

Sounds familiar? Yes, your line of thought clearly supports Hitler.

Who is going around and citing the trial as unfair to black people, the President?

I agree with what the President stated. He clearly indicated that we should accept the verdict but that we should learn from it and move in a positive direction. He discussed how we should examine laws and see if they are accomplishing what they should be doing. Given the fact how the SYG laws have created more deaths by guns, as shown by stats, I agree.

The US has endured decades of proven racism against blacks. I may not be a black American, but I fully understand and accept the fact that years of racism did not help black American's standing in life.

It's funny how we can sit here today and point to the black communities and state its all their fault. They did it to themselves. Our racist society and unequal and unjust laws had nothing to do with it. I am not that naïve and you shouldn't be either.....

NO, that is what "you" are saying. Please....quote me just (1) black leader that stated that.

Wow...we are now resorting to name calling. I guess you can no longer respond with any credibility. Typical, but expected.

I've proven my point and I will move on.

Thanks for stopping by. I suggest you turn off your computer and head to the nearest library.

ETA: I considered reporting your post, but thought better of it. A mod would probably delete it and I want everyone to see what you're all about.

I didn't lump myself as a victim, I am black. If you read my numbers, you'd see that even if you don't have a criminal record, I am still a target. It's cool that we could all be considered equal, but when black men are killed and those folks walk, or get time so little you think what's the point.

The point is you're still looking at this from the wrong angle. You're still looking at this issue as the guy who gets pulled over for nothing. You're still looking at this as the guy who got beat up by cops a long time ago.

Look at this from the angle of the family man with a good career that you are now. Look at this as the American who has the RIGHT to be secure in his person and property.

In short, stop looking at this like a black guy. Look at it like an American.

I realize you still are a black guy and nothing is going to change that. But what can change is black men can stand up for their rights. The hard part for you - and many others of all colors - is going to be standing up for everyone's rights. When people like George Zimmerman "get off" for killing someone the knee-jerk reaction is "a black man's life is worthless." But when you dissect this case and look at the facts, including all the other SYG case figures out there, you can start to realize the first step in adding more value to "a black man's life" (and everyone's life) is to balance our rights with that of the state.

Black men are disproportionately killed, jailed, etc. True. So how on earth is asking for courts to consider evidence not pertinent to cases going to change that? Knowing the law, knowing how to "stand your ground" in court, and doing it every single time is what it takes.

All those folks shooting each other in the hood because there are no cops around? Who's fault is that? When you have "stop snitchin" as a way of life and allow yourself to be victimized by the courts instead of fighting every single time for justice across the board, there's no hope of winning cases down the line.

You talked about telling your kids they'd better run instead of fighting. Don't do that. Teach them their rights and make them fight for them. Damn the outcome. When we stop doing what's right, we all lose. Don't give up. The situation may suck, but it's something we can change.

I get what you're saying because it was the same way in my neighborhood growing up. The police taught everyone not to "stand their ground" or suffer the consequences. As bad as it was, it was twice as bad being black. People with little understanding for others will never get it. To them it's some complaint.

Street cred!

We're all from the hood. The police are always the worst gang out there and it's no different in any city. Blah, blah, blah.

What we need to do is stop blaming someone else for our problems. We have the opportunity - and the obligation - to stand on the right side of the law in every single incident. Every encounter. Everything that happens in our lives.

When we don't... it's no surprise we end up with things like police allowed to abuse their power. Who's going to stop them?

I'm still wondering why anyone would want less rights?

Care to explain that to me?

Now it makes sense. It's not even about the issue. It's about your side winning. Thanks!
