I've been going to the gym every work-day morning since the beginning of July for an hour and have lost a total of six pounds! Grrrrr

But you're gaining muscle mass which weighs more than fat. So, you may feel you're not losing weight, but you'll probably find you are. How do your clothes feel on you? Looser? That's the best way to tell, ignore the scales!

I understand all that. My problem is that I am about 70 pounds over-weight. I started counting calories and grams of fat expecting much better results that what I have had thus far so am a bit dejected. I have been through this once before and had no problem dropping excess weight so am concerned that there might be a medical problem or my medication is causing some problems with the weight loss. Next step, see the doc!

Unless it's age related :(

As you get older I guess the metabolism slows down so you have to work harder if you need to lose weight and it's easier to gain weight if you slack off your excercise programme.

If the doctor says it's nothing medical, it's probably a case of sticking with your programme and it will work out in the end.

Just a thought, but interval training is a much more time/calorie burning efficient way to go. Is that part of your programme?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I certainly do meet the 'older' catagory! :D I was just hoping for better results. I do well over 500 calories of aerobics and weight training each morning and try to keep my calory intake to about 1500 a day with less than 30 grams of fat but the weight has been very slow to come off. I do have more energy by working out in the morning so I will stick with that. I will be in good shape so when I die I will die healthy :D:wacko:

 I come from a family of 6 boys and I'm the only one that's 'thick' - the rest of 'em are bean poles. :P I find that it comes down to a daily, even momentary decision making with regard to eating habits. Here at work, we have a snack bar in the kitchen area. Sometimes they've got fruit, but most of it is junk. A couple of weeks ago, I bought some celery and a jar of natural peanut butter as an alternative. I've also greatly cut back on eating at restaurants, which has been the most difficult thing for me. Anyway, I keep reminding myself that every little eating decision counts. :star:

I ice-skate four times a week, do yoga twice a week, and ballet once a week. Sometimes I also go to the gym for cardio and weights, but I've been slacking lately.

C. lost about twenty pounds simply by cutting out soda from his diet. If you're into lattes and smoothies and coffee drinks, check the calorie counts, as they're usually huge. Cut out the sugary drinks and that's a pound a week.
