I really should exercise but the most exercise I get is walking into my office building from the parking lot. I do have a pretty good walk to get in but it's not near the amount of exercise I should be getting. I just never have been able to motivate myself to do anything. And luckily I stay at a pretty good weight so it's not like I have to exercise to keep my weight down. But I can only imagine how my body will react when I get older having never done any real exercise my whole life.

We have a hyper Labrador, he keeps me busy all day. We go for walks, a dip in the water (not me but he goes), play in the yard, go for more walks and he digs holes while I'm there with my shovel trying to close the holes again. We keep each other exercised pretty good.

My work is my form of exercise-I am a licensed massage therapist, which is physically taxing a good majority of the time. I usually see between 4-5 patients a day-ranging from re-habing stroke patients, broken bones to athletes and spoiled hausfraus...

After work, I have 4 BIG dogs (2 of which are handicapped), 8 ferrets, 1 Scotsman, and a 9 year old to keep up with !

Quite frankly, I am in better shape than I was at 22 !

I try to make it to the gym during my lunch hour and then I take a 15 minute walk in the afternoons. If I'm not to sleepy at night I'll do 30 minutes on the tread mill or elyptical machine. If I don't get exercise, I get totally wound up. It keeps my anxiety down to a manageable level. :star:

But you're gaining muscle mass which weighs more than fat. So, you may feel you're not losing weight, but you'll probably find you are. How do your clothes feel on you? Looser? That's the best way to tell, ignore the scales!

 Muscle does not weigh heavier than fat. 1lb muscle = 1lb fat. It's volume that is the difference, not weight. Muscle is more dense than fat so takes up less space.

But I agree scales are liars. Measure, measure, measure.

Well, duh, you could have a pound of sugar and a pound of popcorn, weigh the same but the pile of popcorn will be larger. That's what I meant. You took me far too literally.... Hence my term muscle mass....
