  1. 1. Are you comfortable with seeing Latinos sing God Bless America or should that privilege be limited to white people?

    • I am comfortable. They're American too, even if they're not exactly white.

    • I am ambivalent about this. I want them to feel welcome, but they shouldn't forget they're not white.
    • No, I am not comfortable. The white man can't catch a break in this country anymore, wtf?
    • I refuse to pick any of the above responses on the grounds that the OP is a race baiting ahole.

If you don't hire someone based on race I think that's racist.

If you can joke around about race, but never try to really offend the person that's not racist.

Action verses just talk.

If we could joke around about our differences then maybe we'd be more understanding.

But oddly if you do hire someone because of race it's not racist .

I've hired a great deal of Asian interns throughout the years, does that make me a racist? I hired them based on their resume and interviews...OVER the Hispanics, Blacks and White's that applied. And no, I'm not Asian.

If the the kid did present himself or herself badly I did explain what to do when interviewing for the next job.

I refuse to be forced to pick based on national origin or race. If you stand out, you stand out.

Now I'm really confused. I thought you said affirmative action is a good thing?

You are confused because you don't understand the reason or time it's implemented.

If a company had ZERO people of color or women, they had to integrate a percentage of minority and women. Not hire only minority and women.

If you work in a place that is diversified already then that doesn't have to be implemented.

If the company I worked for only hired Caucasians then I would be obligated to assist with that integration. The fact is it's rarely implemented as far as I know.

So if a company is all Caucasian then continuing that is just fine? I'm talking large companies...not mom and pop businesses.

No, if you have a company that hires a low percentage of blacks, then you get Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow/Push Coalition to show up at your front door, and they extort you until you hire more minorities. In the mean time they make sure you give money to their organization while you're at it. The money is the real reason I'm sure.

Why should only large companies be forced to hire minorities? That doesn't seem fair. I mean if you're going to require that companies are racist, then you should require that all companies are racist. Not just the big ones.

If you hire someone because of sex, is that sexist?

If you hire "for sex" I don't see a problem as long as it's mutually agreed.

I think they should get rid of it, but then the problem becomes if your name isn't white sounding, you won't get hired. If you think about it, we didn't ask for it.

But funnily enough Indians seem to have no problem getting hired with their long-###, weird sounding Indian names. (Yes, I am one).

Generally, no. Depends on the contract , though.

This a great poll, yes?

I refuse to pick any of the above responses on the grounds that the OP is a race baiting ahole.

That's some great self-realization - saves money on paying a therapist to acquire a label from a third-party.
