A vague memory reminds me that if you include the income of a member of the household ( I believe the sponsor has to list the members of the household), then that member should fill i-864A. I haven't reached the i-864 phase, so take it with caution. I believe it's some where in the instruction or in the form itself.

If they are combing their income the brother can sign a completed I-864a and the sponsor must count the joint sponsor as part of his household. However, if the joint sponsor brother meets the requirements on his own, an I-864 would be the better option.

Okay wait... Lol that came out all messed up! Lemme fix!

Your friend's brother does not need to do an I-864a. If they were husband and wife who file MFJ, i would recommend it, but not brothers.

I totally missed where you said friend of yours and your fiancé. I must have been half asleep! Good on you if you understood what i meant. Lol

Even if the co-sponsor meets or exceeds the income requirement, is it ok to add that person's spouse's income and the spouse fill and sign i-864A? There should be no harm in adding more income than needed, I suppose.

It's not needed but if it's a spouse and they file MFJ, it's a good idea (especially if the spouse works.) On a tax transcript, a few people have stated, it is hard to differentiate individual incomes. It's also a good idea showing that both spouses know what is going on.
