Can you give an outline of the message? I can't download your link. What are your opinions in this matter BTW?

David Suzuki argues that our conventional methods of economics is destroying our planet, because the fundamental premise in conventional economics is that everything is reduced down to its market value. So, spending money preserving forests for the sake of preservation makes no economic sense and therefore the powers at play, push against public policies such as wildlife preservation.

Here's a quote from Mr. Suzuki:

By setting our priorities around economics and following the advice of economists, we hurtle along a path hell bent for catastrophy.

Remember that we are only one of perhaps 30 million species on the planet. Yet we only measure economic value by how useful something is for us. If we can find ways to make a buck on a natural "resource" that's all we need to exploit it.

We pay little attention to the incredible complexity and interdependence of components of ecosystems of which we, as biological beings, remain a part. And we have almost no idea what the consequences of a vast human population making enormous demands will have on the biosphere.

In economics, the bottom line is profit.
