Juror pushes for new laws following Zimmerman trial

(CNN) -- The woman known as Juror B37 in the George Zimmerman trial released a statement exclusively to CNN Wednesday pushing for new laws.

"My prayers are with all those who have the influence and power to modify the laws that left me with no verdict option other than 'not guilty' in order to remain within the instructions. No other family should be forced to endure what the Martin family has endured," she wrote.

The juror, who was interviewed by CNN, said she will not grant other interviews and wants to get back to a normal life. "For reasons of my own, I needed to speak alone," she said.

She issued the statement after four other jurors said the opinions she expressed on "Anderson Cooper 360" were "her own, and not in any way representative" of all the jurors.

That's yet another indictment of the 2005 SYG statute. Five out of 6 jurors have now openly indicted that statute. Good for them.

I can already see all those that hailed this jury's verdict to line up right behind them. Or maybe not...

83% of the jurors wanted to send Zimmerman to prison, but the Florida law prevented them from doing so. So much for George's innocence.

Maybe he was not innocent, but he was definitely not guilty. So said 100% of the 6 jurors.

Agreed that he was not guilty.

I just don't agree with the posters here who said they chose 'not guilty' because they believed his innocence and his story.

Also juror b37 said they did not believe race was the motive, yet AA leaders still want to make it a racial crime and instigate the community based on the race.

Great. I don't care what any leaders or what the media says. Nobody is talking about race. We are talking about Florida's law.

Not guilty of what he was charged with I agree. Yet he was negligent with his actions. His own account states his bad judgement and misguided attempt at being a crime fighter.

The law forced that decision on them. They had no choice but to hand down that verdict. That's what 5 of them are out here saying. And it is pretty clear by now that they would have rather handed down a guilty verdict if the law would have permitted it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing the aftermath of a trial that was discussed here for months.

People can simply ignore the topics they don't want to participate in.

I personally find it interesting to hear what jurors think about the case they sat in on.

While I agree with that, you have to admit that there are more pressing things in the world. I just find it odd that this now finished trial, takes up 75%+ of all the time spent on the news. And 90% of that time is people b!tching because they don't like the outcome. The kid is dead. He aint coming back.

God grant me serenity to accept the things I can not change.
