Hi all! I'm Brandi. I'm kind of new here.

Signed up a while back but things only became real this past weekend when my fiance and I finally sent off our I-129F packet.

It felt so good to actually get it in the mail! We've been talking about it and planning for it for so long... just felt like a huge weight off my shoulder. Now we have officially taken a step in the right direction. dancin5hr.gif

I'm almost certain I know what happens next:

  1. Waiting for my NOA-1 confirming my petition has been opened; then watching the clock ClockWatch2.gif
  2. Hopefully getting an NOA-2 saying it's been approved yes.gif
  3. Patiently wait for the NVC to receive my petition; more of this ClockWatch2.gif
  4. NVC transfers the case to the Embassy; more ClockWatch2.gif
  5. Stalk Call the Embassy every day to find out if they've received the package from NVC; more ClockWatch2.gif
  6. Fiance will hover over patiently wait for the mailman for the checklist that says what to mail back and what bring to interview; moreClockWatch2.gif
  7. Have medical scheduled for fiance good.gif
  8. Fiance goes to interview and I cross my fingers that all goes well ClockWatch2.gif
  9. Visa is issued and fiance flies to FL and we get married wub.png

I'm really hoping we get everything right the first time and don't have any delays.

Welcome and congrats! Everyone here is super helpful.

I stalked posts and used Igor's List and the Advanced Search Tool the majority of my first month or so on here.

There's also the K1 Guide, the K1 flowchart and the K1 tips, which are super helpful.

If you're more like me and want to know ALL the facts you can I would recommend reading this Q&A with a former USCIS adjudicator. :)

Also, if you haven't already... don't forget to fill out your timeline! This helps keep the estimated dates people see more accurate and helps people who are answering your questions know where you are in the process!

Good luck and welcome aboard the wait train! tongue.png

Okay, I do have a question, two actually...

In my I-129F packet, I included the form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance. I'm only reading now that I should've clipped it on the first page of my immigration form. I'm fairly certain I overlooked that and put it at the back of the packet.

1) Has anyone else done the same thing and still gotten an email and/or text?

2) What email or # did the notification come from? I want to add it to my safe-senders list so it doesnt filter the email into my junk/spam folder.

I didn't get so much of a rush, more of a panic hoping they'd recieved it. Then we got our NOA1, and I was really happy. That quickly turned to desperation for NOA2 XD.

1) I'm not sure about this one as we put ours on the front.

2) It comes from USCIS-CaseStatus@dhs.gov .

Gosh, I really hate the waiting. I know it's only been 5 days but it makes me stalk these forms like crazy and I read and re-read things and then psych myself out...

Hoping someone can put me at ease about something...

Regarding Form I-134 (Financial Support Affadavit)

On my form, I indicated that I have annual wages of $30,500. I have a life insurance policy for $130,000.

I see the Federal Poverty minimum is $27,570 for a household of 5 (Myself, three kids and fiance). If I look only at these numbers, am I assume that we won't have any issues here? Will it matter to the CO that my fiance will be moving to the US with about $10,000 of his own money that he has saved up?

As soon as you get your NoA1 and you have your receipt number, you can:

  • sign up for electronic case updates on the USCIS website here.
  • check your case status on the USCIS website here.
  • change your address on the USCIS website here.

Good luck!
