Hi Everyone!

How do I know when the NVC receives my case? My I-130 was approved on July 8th and Im wondering if I have to do something or just wait for a notification from them.

One more thing... is the process with NVC complicated? Should I get a lawyer or its okay to do it by myself?

thanks for your help!

Congratulations on the approval!

You need to call the NVC and ask if they have received your case and assigned a case number and invoice identification number. They will also notify you, but you can potentially save a couple of weeks by being proactive yourself.

The process is not at all complicated and you can do it yourself. Study the first two posts in this thread to learn everything you need to know about the NVC:

If anything is unclear, just post your questions in the thread, or come and join the NVC thread here in the LPR forum.

Good luck!

P.S. While you wait for your case number, please fill in your timeline. It will help those going through the process after you.

My prediction is current because they will try to use all the visas remainding for this Fiscal Year FY, now October will be a different story and it will depend on the Immigration Reform being vetted thru Congress...If approved expect some delays due to the influx of petitions that they will have to work due to the illegal folks. I hope they will retrogress to what they left back in July Oct 2011 or Mar 2012. Good Luck people

N. Ahmed and Shalone: You should be getting IL very soon. I just got mine last Friday. I called everyday and they told me that it depends on the capacity of the US Embassy in Dhaka. So I guess they started scheduling interview now, since I got mint. Good Luck.
