I have a friend, who is petitioning for his mom! the mother is in the US currently! she is also gonna adjust her status! what i would like to know the steps required and the fees!

I also would like to know if a interview will be required

Thanks in advance for the help!smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png

The interview may be required, or it may be waived. It is more likely to be waived if there is nothing remarkable or questionable in her history and if all documents are submitted correctly.

ALL I-130/I-485 cases require an interview. It will not be waived. A person cannot come on a tourist visa and get a GC without an interview.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

They in fact can be waived. We got my father in law's green card in the mail this this June. He was adjusting from B2 tourist visa. Entered March 2012, filed adjustment Aug 2012, and GC approved June 2013. No interview. He has been out of the USA on AP since April.

My wife's friend's mother also was approved without interview. Those are the only 2 AOS cases for parents that I have personal knowledge of, so it's 2 for 2 approved without interviews in my experience. Not sure how common it is overall though, .

Criteria for interview waivers was posted in the thread below.
