since I have been here, I only have EAD. that's it. What should I do now?

I suggest you apply for AP, using form I-131, this week.

When you include a copy of the receipt notice on the I-485, guess what?

Fees for the AP doc are waived.

My EAD will expire in Jan 2014. is it too early to apply for AP right now? I think I will apply for AP this september unless I don't get green card at that time.

You can apply whenever you like, but your replacements will only be valid for one year from the date of their approval.

In all likelihood you will have your green card before the end of the year, but it never hurts to plan ahead.

Hi everyone here,

I have been looking up a lot of steps in this website since I started applying for K1 visa. Everything has been good so far. But now I have a problem is I really want to go back VN to visit my family in Jan 2014 and go back USA Feb 2014, and my EAD ( employment authorization card expire is Jan 2014) while I haven't had green card yet. what can I do to travel aboard with green card and what should I do when my EAD expire?

I'm looking forward to seeing my family. I really miss them.

Waiting for everyone respond.

Thanks a lot.

have a nice day!

If your EAD/AP card expires in January 2014 and they are usually good for a year, that means you filed for AOS back in late November early December 2012 time frame. So you are coming up on the 7-8 month mark on getting your GC. I would start making noise about where your GC is. Make an INFOpass apointment to ask about the GC status and just happen to have the I-131 application already filled out to give to them to get an extension on your EAD/AP card. Maybe that will get them going on approving your GC. Write a letter to your Senators or Congressman/woman and see if they can offer any help. This long of a wait is not acceptable.

DO NOT TRAVEL AFTER YOUR EAD/AP CARD EXPIRES. You will not be allowed to re-enter the US. Either get an extension to the AP/EAD card or have the GC in hand when you travel. Hopefully the GC will arrive in the next few weeks without an interview.

Good luck,

Dave

Dave,

You're right about I filed for AOS late November 2012. I called them a few times. they asked me wait a little bit. It has been processing. Thank you. I hope so. that's why I think about apply for extension my EAD this Sep unless I don't get GC.

I have kept in touch with some friends who came to USA by K1 visa like me. Some of them are waiting for GC like me right now. I hope I can get GC in this year so I can travel more relaxing.

thanks for your respond,Dave.
