Of course not. They like it just the way it is. Government policies promote more of the same and that is the idea. The "problems" they are facing were carefully cultivated for that purpose. If you do not believe it you are part of the problem.

So you're saying black culture has evolved to create sympathy from the upper classes in order to get more and more things. Or are saying the government creates social programs in order to keep black people in perpetual poverty?

G- the government creates social programs in order to keep black people in perpetual poverty?

Might be a new letter

Not so much to keep them in poverty but to make sure they are a solid voting block. Nothing really different than Obama did with the hispanics and immigration or the Pubs do with their big business special interest groups.

example here in GA

Before new law-- You paid 7% sales tax on new car then ad valoerm tax every year. private party sales did not pay a sales tax, but every paid the annual tax.

Huge car dealer lobby -lots of trips, cash and hookers. Repub house and senate passed a new bill

No you pay no sales tax on new cars or cars purchased from dealership. You pay 6.5 % ADV tax and you pay no more ADV tax , until you buy the next car.

If you buy a car from a private source you pay 6.5 transfer tax. If your brother sells you a car for 1 dollar you pay 6.5% of book value. Same if you transfer in from out of state.

They call in the car dealer law

My Brother in law and sister were big players instate politics for years. They said the level of corruption in govt os off the scale. Many lobbyist are nothing more than hookers.

Being poor is just like a long vacation.

Some of the theories are insane yet I think NB has had a couple good observations today.

If you make the poor rich who would they vote for? That's the question.

Although it pains me to say it, some of your theories hold water...you get a star for today.

Now if you'd temper it by toning down the racially insensitive language we might be headed in the right direction. Not in this posting, but previous ones.

It must be the meds...lol

i am not so much insensitive as de sensitive. I just don't see how honesty is insensitive. I don't buy into the theory that it is ok for one race to say things and not ok for the other. If you don't think it terms of race it just does not matter

If have always been progressive in my stand for equal rights for all, even took a stand in my role as a Guard commandeer. Hurt my career. got called a N lover for having black friends back in the 1970's south when it was not cool.

But I refuse to subscribe to the hobbled black theory.

I promise you I have seen more racism than anyone on this board can imagine. Not the "I think the cop is profiling me" kind of racism. The beat you with chains, house on fire, beat to death in the work camp, two water fountains, J.B. Stoner speaking on the courthouse square kind.

I reckon that is why I am so amazed at the petty B.S. that so many call racism today, that is nothing more than, every thing in the world does not go your way every day B.S.

People thought Galileo was nuts also.

The usual religious right struggling to maintain power over the fearful populous. They don't like anyone challenging anything already established by historical ignorance.

Ugh, I couldn't help it.

I have a slightly different take, and it comes from studying both science and world religions at the same time. Both produce models of how the universe works, and each tract produce complicated and difficult to accept explanations for how things work, as well as simple and elegant solutions. As my inorganic chemistry instructor was found of saying, you can't say any model is incorrect, just incomplete. For instance, for most of human experience, and for the Macro Universe, Newton's theories hold up fairly well; However, it does little to explain what can be observed in the subatomic world, near the speed of light, or high energy states.

I don't disagree that science Isn't the end all be all of life. There is a difference when you won't hear any scientific facts or theories that might challenge biblical knowledge. The church didn't want anyone challenging the earth being the center of the universe. When Galileo saw moons orbiting Jupiter, the church threatened his life and sentenced him to house arrest for the rest of his life only after a forced recanting of any challenging observations. How does this mentality differ from the way I described it?

That was brilliant.

You are now mentioned in the same breath as Galileo...well done.

in much simple terms. a lot/some of what I leaned in high school science in the 1970's is now defunct theory. I am sure in 30 more years much of it will change also.

Politically I am closer to Gandhi, King and Mandela.

When you get away from the Bilbe, and explore some of the other myths behind the world's religion, it is enlightening, Then when you come back to look at Christianity, you see a beautiful mysticism you never realized was there, There was more to the history of the Roman Catholic church than some religious dogma. The driving forces were more political than they were mystical. Religion, at times, does take advantage of science, and vice-versa.

I think Mandela may have just cringed a little, but point taken.

I've always believed Christianity was standardized into the Roman Catholic Church as a means of standardizing worship and therefore obedience among the Roman Empire. Obviously some of the existing pagan beliefs had to integrated into the church to make the transition easier and therefore more palatable to the populous. The Romans did this before on a smaller scale with Greek mythology. Only stands to reason they would think to try again. Am I close?

I think Mandela may have just cringed a little, but point taken.

Either I'm becoming more strong left or you're getting funnier.
