no, its not a problem to stay with her, in fact many people do that. I would advice you bring everything with you that you will need to provide for your fiancees interview. Like IRS tax transcripts, letter from employer, etc., as they are much easier to obtain while you are in the USA.

I'm staying with my wife-2-B also in Thailand, while we're waiting for her interview to be scheduled. Shouldn't be a problem.

I see your fiance is in Cuba, how can a USC go there?

Either you can go via a third country or apply for a license from the US Treasury Department (a branch of it). The reasons have to be legit, such as religious travel or other such circumstances. So those really are my two options, the latter being much more of a headache and the earlier while being easy is not licensed.

Thanks for your input. Does it provide any sort of problem if I had to quit my job though? I imagine that I need the steady job for the affidavit of support or no? I guess that is my biggest concern. Are there ways to get around this so as to be able to be with him?

I understand that Rebex. But your original post was:

'is it possible to move to my fiance's country and wait with him there for the next steps to come through... '

Will you & your fiance stay together for months, in a 3rd country, unemployed? I was under the impression a USC cannot go at all to Cuba...?

You can certainly quit your job but you will need an affdavit of support for your fiance to receive the K1 visa. I see fm the timelines Cuban visas take around 6 months or more. Can you afford to be out fo work that long?

I understand what you are saying now, guess I was a bit confused myself. I guess I worded my original post a bit weird. what I wanted to know was even if it is possible to visit my fiance during this whole process because after posting I thought about it more and realized being without work for that long is too much. Oh and I would most likely go be with him in Cuba traveling from a third country (such as Costa Rica as I have done before) and not directly from the US. Maybe that makes more sense. Thanks for your input.

Welcome Reb,

Considering that she has been with her fiance for 3 years, I think that we should all assume that she really knows how to get in and out of the country. US CubaVJers know that it's a risk, but sometimes love puts us through that. Some of us have Licenses and some of us use 3rd country's because the straight flights are only for License holding passengers

Reb as far as you quiting your job to be with him throughout the whole process...mmmmhh okay, do you have money saved up, the process on the Cuba side can be pretty pricey. The medical checkup alone is 550cuc and prices might be increasing on the carta blanca begining next year. I think that you should definently plan to be there for the interview or as soon as you know your petition is getting sent to the US interest section in Cuba. If you have money saved up and have a co-sponsor than it shouldn't be a problem...however I just don't know if it would be the best idea to quit your job unless you were studying over there because they might question you about that at the interview. I couldn't make the interview because i'm pregnant, but I think if you can make it, it would help things...however I don't think that you should quit your job (unless your job sucks and you were already going to quit it anyway) After all you guys will be spending the rest of your lives together so this time apart will be forgotten in the future. Good luck with everything!!
