dont get me wrong, Im not saying she should choose, just saying that if they keep talking about the visa, just ignore the topic and try to focus in something else. And It's nothing personal against Thai people, this kind of behavior happens around the globe and of course, I know all the Thai families are not like that. And family is not just important in Thai culture, is important in all the cultures I know including mine. But I think she needs to stand her ground and try to explain her family they can get them here, at least not for now. I think they can understand what she is going through. And in terms of war, Colombia, Venezuela, and some other countries has very very violent situation but is not a war.

My guess is they have very little idea of what she is going thru really.

I don't really understand why you brought the subject of war into this in the first place.

What this guy has done isn't new in Thailand. These are the real people that generate the sale of humans. Many of these guys are on the same level as farm animals.

This subject is very difficult to understand for anyone especially people that aren't Thai. My suggestion is to work with your fiancée on the present issues and give her time to adjust to her new surroundings ect. Then when she is settled there will be a better time to formulate a plan that could result in the child being allowed to immigrate.

I suggest you seek info from people that have found a way to obtain this permission but refrain from entering into discussions with anyone until the time is correct. This is to be seen as a serious game where the rules can be difficult to identify. Do not show your hand to anyone too early or you will regret it.

I concur 100%. The father sees a chance to make some big money. This happens all the time. I (and I'm sure Ning) have seen this alot here on VJ. Also, find out if the father is on the birth certificate? Was your fiancee married to him?

Anyway, thanks everybody. got the info I was looking for.

We have a lot to work on with building a life together. I'm gonna get back to that now. rather then talk about deadbeat dads and teenage daughters. If you want to continue the discussion, please start a new thread.

i brought it cause I was trying to understand why her family was in such a hurry to get visas and move here when she just left. You can understand that kind of behavior if you are living in a country dealing with war (where people usually want to scape) but that's not Thailand's case. I was just guessing. If you still have a doubt try to read twice cause I already explained it. Edited by Andrea&Henry

In third world countries many ( most? ) think that the US is a dream place where the family lounges about the swimming pool eating fine foods and watch TV. So first they want their immigrant relative to send all sorts of goodies home and next they all want to get on the invite list to the never ending pool party.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I never met one person in Asia in the 3 years I lived there that wanted to move to the U.S. I only met a couple that even wanted to visit. I went to some real poor places too. Not sure why that is.
