I was just curious if anyone knew the reason why Green Cards do not list the immigrant's nationality?

My 1 year Green Card listed it. However, once I got my 2 year GC, and just yesterday, my 10 year, there is no nationality listed. Doeas anyone know why this is? Or the reasoning behind it? Thanks.

I would imagine it would serve to show one's nationality?...

Right but in what situation would that information be useful? A greencard isn't meant to be proof of anything but your LPR status. I suppose you could make the same argument about country of birth appearing though...

See, that's exactly it. My country of birth is Japan. So anywhere I go in America that requires my GC, people are like "Oh! You're Japanese!? You don't LOOK Japanese!"

Firstly, one cannot "look" Japanese. lol Secondly, I'M NOT JAPANESE! Being born there gave me no rights to citizenship. I am a Canadian and Polish Dual citizen.

See my point a little? ;)

Your place of birth is a piece of identifying information. It's used to distinguish you from other people with the same name and birthdate. Unlike your nationality, your place of birth can't change.

Hmmmm.....a good explanation. Thank you.
