We don't allow foreigners to buy firearms unless they're here on unconditional immigrant visas.

Is the wife French?

I don't think you've been to a gun show lately. ANYONE can purchase a weapon if they have cash and are over 18.

I know, I've purchased at more than a few shows.

That's why it's a loophole. They give people who are not eligible an opportunity to buy.

All you need is a pulse and some money.

You can walk out of there with an arsenal and nobody would bat an eye.

Europe is so safe because of it's no guns policies? Is that why our grandparents moved around so much? "There's a war, again. I guess we'll fight back....oh, wait. On second thought...."

Gun show loop hole is a myth. It's already illegal to do business with a prohibited person. How do you suggest we make that "more illegal?"

The wars in Europe didn't happen because not enough people had guns. What an extremely naive thing to say. Please read about actual events that lead to the wars. I'll give you a hint. The second one started because they negotiated the end of the first one so poorly. Nothing to do with quantity of guns.

I took history in college and this gun theory was never brought up. What a breakthrough!

I think you need European history 101.

On the gun sales how would you know they were prohibited? Wait, that's self regulation? Yep, that always works.

Civilized people do not carry guns. It is so lower class.

Europeans are too civilized to carry guns.

This post is troublesome on two levels. First, its rather classist, second its inaccurate. From an Anglo perspective, firearm ownership was more of an Aristocratic endeavor. Modern laws from the 1960s forward have only reinforced this condition by making ownership too expensive for the common man.

Without a background check requirement, how does a seller ascertain who is and who isn't a prohibited person?

It's "self administered" verification by the purchaser and accepted by the seller with proof of payment.

As one seller said, "I trust my customers, as long as they pay in cash."
