Okay, I know a little while ago I posted about the fact my name was spelled wrong on my packet 3 letter. I received my interview letter a few days ago and they spelled it the same on that too. It's a minor mistake - my middle name is Jane and they put Jan. I was advised in my previous post NOT to call the embassy call centre as they would be of no help whatsoever, and to just let the officials at the embassy know to spell it correctly on my visa... but I'm starting to really worry now with my interview around the corner that they will give me grief about it and turn me away when I get to the gate...

Should I still just wait until I get to the embassy and explain the error, since it's spelled correctly on every other piece of documentation I have? I feel silly for worrying so much over something so small, but we are so close to finally being together again the thought of any delay, even a relatively small one, is enough to make me sweat!

Thanks for reading/replying and I promise this will be the last panic-riddled post from me lol.

i'd personally make sure it is corrected before interview. I believe i read it somewhere that if your info for interview sheduling isnt accurate, it should be corrected before interview. I am not from UK though so not sure how it works for you.

ah here i found it:

Report change : it is applicant's responsibility to report........mistakes in spelling of given name or last name.......It is responsibility of both the petitioner and beneficiary to keep the Consular Section informed. ...... Failure to do so prior to the visa interview will lead to a delay in visa processing.....

But again, i am not from UK, so you decide.

Good luck

Call or email the Embassy. This may be a non-issue, was for my wife.

When you say it was a non-issue for your wife, what do you mean? Did your wife call the embassy, and if so what did they say?

Thanks!

For sure call or email them! It's better to be safe than sorry, and anyway they need to know the correct name, what if they put that on your visa? lol I know you said you would correct it at the interview at the latest, but just saying..

I think for some countries you have really good luck and communication by emailing while calling is useless, other countries it is the opposite. try both and see what works!

We met when Heather travelled to Egypt to be an au pair!

It wouldn't bother me so much if the number to call them wasn't so expensive lol. I think emails to the London embassy generally don't get read unless you call the expensive number anyway to get a code. So it looks like I'll be calling them either way unsure.png

Thanks!

Her middle name was misspelled they stated it was a nonissue and it was. The K-1 visa is cancelled out and replaced with a I-94 at POE and nine if this info is used moving forward with your USCIS journey.

Thanks so much for your responses. However I've decided to leave it until I get to the embassy. It's one single letter and I'm sure they're not going to give me any grief over it while I have my passport, police certificate and everything else. I just can't justify spending a small fortune (£1.23 a minute!!) calling them up for them to tell me there's nothing they can do and to just let them know when I get there. Just as long as I tell them about it before they issue my visa it should be fine. I was mainly worried about actually getting through into the embassy, but I'm going to take my vaccination document from the medical which has my full name and case number so they can match them up if they want to (I actually only just thought of that). I feel better now lol.

Thanks again everyone. luv.gif
