My dad is my co-sponsor, the form is quite straight forward (the new I 864A) however i have a doubt re: Part 2. Sponsor's promise section.

Read the instructions twice but couldn't clear my doubt.

Line 13 of Part 2, lists a tabular column a through f. I assume i put my husbands name in Line a. The paragraph directly above this table, goes like

I, The SPONSOR, xxxxxxx .....xx...... file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following ___________________ named intending immigrant(s).

Now the blank has a small underline note stating Indicate Number, however the table is a through e.Does this actually mean to list line "a) my spouse name" or just "a."

So should i put a. in the above blank?

Just making sure as one small mistake can end up in RFE, and nobody wants it to take any longer than it already takes :)

Also i have not worked since graduating or before as a student, and hence never filed taxes. 0$ gross income to date, so i am going to leave all tax related questions marked blank in I 864 which i will fill.I will include a letter or mention in the cover letter why i never filed or paid taxes - cuz didn't work or earn at all.will this be sufficient?

If your father make the poverty line on his own there is no need to combine your income with his. Just have him sign a completed I-864 instead of the I-864a. If he files jointly with his wife, she should should an I-864A.

I didn't realize until now. yes luckily he makes well over the poverty line on his own,

when you say if he files with my mom, you mean on his tax returns right? i am pretty sure he does MFJ but ill check with him. if he does, then he should only fill I 864A and i do the I 864, correct?

You file I-864 if you have a joint sponsor, which you do.

He should file I-864 - period.

Your mom, if he files MFJ, should file I-864A unless she doesn't work.
