Ok, Hello so I've been getting all of my information from this website throughout the entire process. I just created a username due to my current dilemma, I'm not even sure if I"m in the correct section I am in a frantic state. Long story short I completed the entire process on my end with a few rfe's on the way but my wife had an interview today she was denied due to me not having a 2012 tax return which when I initially submitted I explained that I didn't work and used my Mother as a joint sponsor she met all the requirements. It was accepted by the nvc therefore I was under the impression that it was fine , today my wife calls me and tells me they declined and what they requested , I called the dos the operator explained to me that I would somehow have to resubmit a letter , I need to make sure what I'm doing is correct and I need to know how I should go about it please...sorry for any grammatical errors as I stated earlier I am very nervous, frantic and disappointed at the moment. Thank you all in advance

I'm sorry but i didn't mention that I'm American if that matters

Ok a few things, it does not seem like it was a denial, but another request for evidence.

Secondly, you posted this in the fiancé section but mention your wife, you went through the proper visa for your martial situation right?

If all you need is your tax returns (which yes, you DO need) then focus all your energy on submitting the documents in a timely manner

good luck

Thank you for your time, I figured I submitted this in the wrong section. I am sure I submitted it through the correct process the i-130 I believe , but from my understanding if i had a joint sponsor and sent a letter explaining that I didn't work that it was acceptable as I read from numerous people on this website. Unfortunately it's impossible for me to have tax returns if I didn't work as they don't exist. I also had to send in a copy of my bank statements as well.

how many I-864 forms did you submit into NVC?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
