I don't believe pieces of paper will stop people from taking illegal action. Only armed people stop others from taking illegal action. I'm a firm believer in the ideals behind the papers. Murder laws on the books? Great. But that paper isn't what stops people from murdering.

Are you a big believer in the concept of changing the constitution to reflect the views of the voters? You know, the very concept that allowed the original constitution to be amended to include that oh so important clause you enjoy so much?

The constitution has a pretty simple process to be changed. If the voters want to change it, they can.

Is that so? You do know that 7 out of 10 homicides are commited by armed people, yes? You do know that by definition, 100% or armed robberies are committed by armed people. We could go on but suffice it to say that the fact of the matter is that armed people commit the vast majority of illegal acions.

If we didn't have all thes earmed people causing trouble in the foirst place, we wouldn't need more armed people to stop them. I've had to call someone twice when there was trouble. Fire Department showed up and rendered assistance. No guns. Worked well.

I thought it was a great comment and perfectly applicable to all the dumb things some folks choose to ignore here in P&R. "It'll never happen to us. America is a safe place where unicorns fart skittles."

It's not a question of IF it's going to happen here... but WHEN. Make no mistake, you folks who are eating all those fart skittles will call someone with a gun.

America is not going to become a dictatorship/fascist/whatever government where you are forced to defend your families lives/freedoms with your private gun arsenal. This is not going to happen. There are no indicators of this. Why would that happen anyway, they can do what they want without guns. Game's already over when 1% owns 37% of the country's wealth. They took the country while leaving it a democracy and then convincing you that you should help them create jobs for you. You see, your guns are no match for the kind of political influence billions of dollar can provide.

I believe it was the police that was called to the school. Again, if there's no person with a gun running around the school, then there would be no need to call more people with guns. People with guns cause the vast majority of crime. That's a fact. I'd rather have less of them and hence less crime.

Thanks for letting me know what type of dude you are. You're actually one of my favorites because at the end of the day, you're practical. You'll call out things you perceive but won't act on them until they're directly affecting you.

I can work with you. Chance are you already own a gun and while you don't believe the sky is falling just yet, your inherent distrust of big business and "the system" means you're open to the idea of it all crashing down someday.

By the way.... before you get all upset over big business, keep in mind, this country is a republic, not a democracy. If you force them to follow that paper - and hold them accountable - you'll find we still have a chance to peacefully right the sinking ship.

For the record, if you think you could defend yourself with a sidearm and an AK47 or even a BMG .50 cal against the greatest armed force in the world, that by definition is insane.
