Carrying a gun is not intending to inflict harm any more than carrying a condom is intending to have sex. I have never inflicted harm with a gun and have never had any altercation of any sort with anyone as an adult. I do not even recall any as a child but I am not going to rule out the possibility it happened. It would have been long ago and far away.

I carry a gun everywhere because unlike RG I have no clue when I will "need" it. He os blessed with some sort of claire voiyance I do not possess so I play it safe. i also wear my seat belt all the time.

One of the alternates, a black man, has said today that he was in favor of acquittal also. Anyone following the law would have acquitted. I am not going to assume any jurors would not follow the law. EVERY state has essentially the same law as Florida. There are a very few that require a person attempt to retreat outside thweir own home and a few that state the person should attempt to retreat first. Most are worded exactly as Florida's SD law.

SYG is in effect in 27 states (more than a "few", more than half to be precise)

SYG was not an issue in the GZ trial at all except for some idiots here that tried to make it so.

There is also the "Make My Day" law, we will call it MMD which is in effect in a few states. This applies to one's home and states that an unauthorized person in a domicle (that means someone's place of residence for those that though GZ would be convicted) can be assumed to represent a threat to life and can be shot outright. Most states apply the same standard to self defense whether inside or outside the home. The old story about "If he falls outside, drag him back in" is largely bullshyt.

But I would like to give some people the benefit of the doubt and hope they'd take the instructions seriously and take into account the evidence (or lack thereof) that the prosecution provided. They didn't prove that GZ was a racist and that's why TM is dead. I'd like to think an all black jury would come to the same conclusion this current jury did.
