Nope they would have looked at the facts you keep trying to ignore. Why was he following him in the first place? Why didn't he identify himself? If he was acting in a neighborhood watch capacity, why did he break every rule in the book? If he was acting like a concerned citizen, what crime was committed for him to follow TM in the first place?

None of that means a damn thing. None of that gives TM the right to jump on top of him and beat the hell out of him. None of it.

Why do you tend to listen to folks that don't express our views as a whole? Look at the open letter to GZ, look at Stevie Wonder, look at the positive black people that are outraged, the intelligent, logical ones that are speaking abou this.

Dude stevie wonder has his choice where he wants to perform, he is not looking at evidence but skin color too so I m not sure how you call them positive people.

The lady on NPR was a black social worker working in the hoods.

I believe OJ was found not guilty because of 2 reasons, the police screwed up and the prosecutors failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was guilty. Do I think he is guilty? Yes, but I will never for one second sit here and say the reason he was found not guilty was because the jury was predominenlty black, nor will I sit here and say that he would have been found guilty if the jury was predominently white. What I will say is that I found the post trial celebrations by the black community despicable, they acted as if it were a basketball game and their team just one the championship. All the while two people have had their lives taken from them in a very brutal manner.

I live my life judging people by nothing other than their merit. If you're a good person, I want to know you. If you're a bad person, I don't. Pretty simple really.

It's too bad that everything is so black and white for you Marvin, but I think you prefer it that way. Otherwise you'd have no one to blame for all of the "wrongs" done to the black people in this world.

Good post.

Did you see white / non AA Al or White Jessie calling for celebration rallies?

Did you see white / non AA out in the streets vandalising and destroying the stores in celebration?

Just so we're on the same page, what does AA stand for today? I didn't get the inter office memo.

I disagree. If had an all black jury they would have rung him up. Look around you, they still want him put away even though he was found innocent

I think a majority of the people saying those things didn't pay one bit of attention to the actual trial.

They likely went from sensationalist media story to verdict.

How many times have a black person been acquitted for murdering a white person? 1

How many times has a white person been acquitted a black or brown person? more than one

I don't condone violence, but you need to have some perspective.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

Stevie Wonder is blind. He doesn't know who is black or white.

Well, I don't see Marvin ever conceding to a not guilty verdict. Stands to reason out of 6 black people, at least 1 would feel the same.

Marvin was one of the people who watched the trial daily and admitted that there was simply not enough evidence to know what happened.

Now that may be true. I don't think any amount of facts that proved GZ not guilty would change their mind.

Marvin is a good example. Nice guy, other wise rational, one of my favorite posters. He looked at the evidence and knew GZ was not guilty. He knew what verdict was coming and said he would be ok with it. Then when it became a reality he can not accept it.

To be honest I might be somewhat the same way if he had gotten 2nd degree. The main problem is the guy was way way over charged. The Feds pushed what they wanted. I would bet any amount of money that if he had been charged with some offense that resulted in a year or 2 sentence he would have been found guilty.

It is not so much that he was not guilty of anything, he was just not guilty of Murder or Manslaughter. Who can you blame for the Over charges.. The same crowd that is raising hell and acting ridiculous know.

But what would have been looked at is why would you get out of the car in the first place to chase a 17 year old who hadn't broke the law and you never identified yourself, nor did you explain what you were doing or what you wanted.

There was nothing illegal about him getting out of the car and following where the guy was going, I dont think he ever had a chance to ID himself.

From the phone conversation, it just sounded as GZ asked TM what he was doing and phone drops to the ground, which is where I am assuming the fight started.

Now if you believe attacking someone who just asked you what you were doing was the answer than there is no argument.

If he had a chance to ask TM what he was doing there, he had a chance to identify himself first instead.

TM: What are you following me for?

GZ: My name's George, I'm neighborhood watch here, I thought you looked lost. Do you need help finding where you're going?

OR

GZ: My name's George, I'm neighborhood watch here. Just wanted to make sure you were okay.

That's how it could have gone down and I bet that would have gone a long way. An identification and something other than an accusatory "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" as if he didn't have the right to be there.

And if you think the fight started as soon as GZ asked TM a question, then why are people saying TM hid in the bushes and attacked?
